After 2 albums of underground transgressive rock, the band started mixing it with Latin American rhythms such a cumbia, chacarera, candombe and cuartetazo. The lyrics, though, remained acid and critical of political and social problems.
The current line-up is: Gustavo Cordera (voice), Juan Subirá (keyboards and voice), Carlos Martín (drums), Oscar Righi (guitar), "Pepe" Céspedes (bass guitar and voice), Daniel Suárez (voice), Alberto Verenzuela (guitar), and "Cóndor" Sbarbatti (voice and charango); previous members include Charly Bianco (guitar and voice) and Rubén Sadrinas (voice).
Honoring the psychiatric hospital José Tiburcio Borda in Buenos Aires, La Bersuit performs dressed in characteristic pajamas; even though the story of Cordera spending some time in that institution is a mere urban legend, the band has an affinity with everything related to madness and marginalization.
Besides the big success, first in the Buenos Aires' underground movement and then in all the country, Bersuit Vergarabat harvested fans from many countries in South America as well as in Spain.

The lyrics of Bersuit Vergarabat's song "Decile a tu mamá" are quite provocative and controversial, reflecting the band's satirical and rebellious style. The song is filled with dark humor and irony, pushing boundaries and challenging societal norms.
The opening lines express the singer's ability to tolerate certain things, such as not paying for a show, someone else being more famous, or hearing other comedians on the radio. However, the singer draws the line at being labeled the ugliest in the entire rock 'n roll scene. This highlights the superficiality of the music industry and the importance placed on appearance.
The next verse takes an even more controversial turn, as the singer mentions being okay with killing Jews, playing without a bassist, or discriminating against foreigners. However, the singer emphasizes that these actions are only acceptable as long as they are given an order to carry them out. This highlights the dangerous influence of authority and blind obedience, even in matters of discrimination and violence.
The repeated chorus urges the listener to tell their mother to be quiet. This can be interpreted as a sarcastic commentary on societal expectations placed on women, implying that they should remain silent and obedient.
