After 2 albums of underground transgressive rock, the band started mixing it with Latin American rhythms such a cumbia, chacarera, candombe and cuartetazo. The lyrics, though, remained acid and critical of political and social problems.
The current line-up is: Gustavo Cordera (voice), Juan Subirá (keyboards and voice), Carlos Martín (drums), Oscar Righi (guitar), "Pepe" Céspedes (bass guitar and voice), Daniel Suárez (voice), Alberto Verenzuela (guitar), and "Cóndor" Sbarbatti (voice and charango); previous members include Charly Bianco (guitar and voice) and Rubén Sadrinas (voice).
Honoring the psychiatric hospital José Tiburcio Borda in Buenos Aires, La Bersuit performs dressed in characteristic pajamas; even though the story of Cordera spending some time in that institution is a mere urban legend, the band has an affinity with everything related to madness and marginalization.
Besides the big success, first in the Buenos Aires' underground movement and then in all the country, Bersuit Vergarabat harvested fans from many countries in South America as well as in Spain.

The song, La Oveja Negra or "The Black Sheep" by Bersuit Vergarabat, is a commentary on societal expectations and love lost. The singer of the song is the black sheep, who has become like wax; malleable and easily influenced. He carries a burden on his forehead, a reminder of his past failures and missteps. He is warned that if he doesn't cleanse himself by bathing in the moonlight, the weight of the fruit he has picked will cling to his feet, causing him to stumble.
The song speaks to the nostalgia of a lost love, with the memories of a youthful, carefree winner. The singer flirted with many different women, but the one who caused him the most trouble ended up being the one who took him away. He goes to her, barefoot and humble, seeking to regain his footing with a pair of shoes. Though he initially underestimates the power of comfort, soon he finds himself caught up in his own web of deception.
The singer is a man who lived life in a hurry, always on the move and never wanting to commit himself to anything. But eventually, he realizes that he cannot keep up the act and must come to terms with who he is. He is lost and adrift, but finds solace in alcohol and ultimately even that cannot provide him with the escape that he craves. He is imprisoned by his own feelings and attachments, unable to move forward.

Perdió el pelo, y tambien las mañas,
He lost his hair and his tricks

Even the comfort of a little alcohol,
No hay mas andanzas, se la pasa tecleando
There are no more adventures, he spends his time typing away
A ver si raja por el monitor
To see if he can escape through the monitor
Nada paso: los sueños se corrigen.
Nothing happened: dreams can be corrected.
Y hoy viaja por la PC, detrás de la libertad
And today he travels through the PC, in search of freedom
Y un mal querer lo fue encadenando
