After 2 albums of underground transgressive rock, the band started mixing it with Latin American rhythms such a cumbia, chacarera, candombe and cuartetazo. The lyrics, though, remained acid and critical of political and social problems.
The current line-up is: Gustavo Cordera (voice), Juan Subirá (keyboards and voice), Carlos Martín (drums), Oscar Righi (guitar), "Pepe" Céspedes (bass guitar and voice), Daniel Suárez (voice), Alberto Verenzuela (guitar), and "Cóndor" Sbarbatti (voice and charango); previous members include Charly Bianco (guitar and voice) and Rubén Sadrinas (voice).
Honoring the psychiatric hospital José Tiburcio Borda in Buenos Aires, La Bersuit performs dressed in characteristic pajamas; even though the story of Cordera spending some time in that institution is a mere urban legend, the band has an affinity with everything related to madness and marginalization.
Besides the big success, first in the Buenos Aires' underground movement and then in all the country, Bersuit Vergarabat harvested fans from many countries in South America as well as in Spain.

Cuando estaba tu colita
Envuelta en pantalón blanco, era un plato de comida
Discutíamos en el auto problemas de filosofía
Cuando llegaba a mi casa ¿qué me hacía
Una papita
Pasaron muchos años y no te decidías

The song "La papita" by Bersuit Vergarabat is a humorous and provocative homage to an intimate and endearing act of love, described in a cunning and suggestive way. The lyrics are structured in a nostalgic and fragmented narrative, where the singer remembers different stages of his relationship with a girl, highlighting the moments of deep connection that he had with her. The first verse takes us back to the memories of their youth, cruising in the car while discussing philosophy and admiring her butt in white pants. He compares her rear to a tasty dish, which hints at his sexual appetite and desire for her. The line "When I got home, what did I do? A French fry" shows the connection between the pleasures of the flesh and the pleasures of the tongue, and how both are intertwined in his mind.
The second verse portrays the girl's indecisiveness and reluctance to engage in a physical relationship, but eventually, she exposes herself and shares her "meal" with him in the lakes of Palermo. The ambiguity of the word "comida" in Spanish (which can mean "food" or "vagina") amplifies the sensual and playful tone of the song, and the image of the couple making love in a public place adds a hint of danger and rebellion to the scene. The third verse introduces a religious and conservative aspect of the girl, which clashes with her passionate and uninhibited side. The explosion and moans that he mentions imply that they had sex in a church or that she was experiencing a religious epiphany during their lovemaking. The repetitive chorus "What do I do? A French fry" suggests that, no matter what situation he is in or how much time has passed, he still remembers her and craves her affection, just like he would crave a salty and comforting snack.
