After 2 albums of underground transgressive rock, the band started mixing it with Latin American rhythms such a cumbia, chacarera, candombe and cuartetazo. The lyrics, though, remained acid and critical of political and social problems.
The current line-up is: Gustavo Cordera (voice), Juan Subirá (keyboards and voice), Carlos Martín (drums), Oscar Righi (guitar), "Pepe" Céspedes (bass guitar and voice), Daniel Suárez (voice), Alberto Verenzuela (guitar), and "Cóndor" Sbarbatti (voice and charango); previous members include Charly Bianco (guitar and voice) and Rubén Sadrinas (voice).
Honoring the psychiatric hospital José Tiburcio Borda in Buenos Aires, La Bersuit performs dressed in characteristic pajamas; even though the story of Cordera spending some time in that institution is a mere urban legend, the band has an affinity with everything related to madness and marginalization.
Besides the big success, first in the Buenos Aires' underground movement and then in all the country, Bersuit Vergarabat harvested fans from many countries in South America as well as in Spain.

Bersuit Vergarabat Lyrics

The opening lines of Bersuit Vergarabat's "Santa Cecilia" speak to the human desire for a song that fills our hearts but without pain or suffering as its source. The idea is that this song should come to us as something spontaneous, a natural outpouring of the creative process. The lines "Que coincidencia se dio, no son casualidades ya no" seem to allude to that moment which occurs when everything aligns, when fortune favors the artist, and a song is born of that rare combination of inspiration, talent, and hard work. There's a sense that this moment is pre-destined, as if the universe or some greater force is at work to bring this sublime creation into being.
The song then shifts to a plea for music to appear, to be our friend and companion, something that doesn't require explanation, something felt in the heart rather than the mind. The "Musa etérea, diosa divina" or the "ethereal muse, divine goddess" is invoked, urging her to make her appearance. The repetition of the lines reinforces the idea that the music sought is something that fills a void that words or reason cannot.
The final lines call to Saint Cecilia, the patron saint of music, to appear as the "ethereal saint," almost as a symbol of the perfection that music can attain. The song, therefore, can be read as an appeal to the divine, to the universe, or to the cosmos to create that one song, that one moment in time where heaven and earth join to create something absolutely beautiful.
