After 2 albums of underground transgressive rock, the band started mixing it with Latin American rhythms such a cumbia, chacarera, candombe and cuartetazo. The lyrics, though, remained acid and critical of political and social problems.
The current line-up is: Gustavo Cordera (voice), Juan Subirá (keyboards and voice), Carlos Martín (drums), Oscar Righi (guitar), "Pepe" Céspedes (bass guitar and voice), Daniel Suárez (voice), Alberto Verenzuela (guitar), and "Cóndor" Sbarbatti (voice and charango); previous members include Charly Bianco (guitar and voice) and Rubén Sadrinas (voice).
Honoring the psychiatric hospital José Tiburcio Borda in Buenos Aires, La Bersuit performs dressed in characteristic pajamas; even though the story of Cordera spending some time in that institution is a mere urban legend, the band has an affinity with everything related to madness and marginalization.
Besides the big success, first in the Buenos Aires' underground movement and then in all the country, Bersuit Vergarabat harvested fans from many countries in South America as well as in Spain.

Vamos no llegamos

rompí a los tres meses la placenta de mamá
con quinientos gramos empecé a caminar
por la ciudad para qué no sé,
antes yo no llegaba, no llegaba
A correr...
y con mi auto voy por las vías
cada mes cambio de edad,
hoy soy mayor que papá, que papá?
Vamos, no llegamos
vamos, no llegamos
antes yo no llegaba, no llegaba
Vuelvo vencido...
Si hubiera un récord de vida
sería campeón mundial
es que siempre llegué antes de largar.
La vida es un evento,
gana el que corre más
por llegar antes a las cosas fué impuntual
Vamos, no llegamos
vamos, no llegamos
se nos va la vida
que si no llegamos
que si no llegamos no sé, que se yo....
The song "Vamos no llegamos" by Argentine rock band Bersuit Vergarabat is a commentary on the fast-paced nature of modern society and the constant pressure to keep up with it. The singer of the song starts off describing his own impatience, stating that he couldn't wait to be born and even ruptured his mother's placenta at three months. From there, he describes how he has been running through life ever since, running through red lights and driving down train tracks in his car.
He then mentions that he ages a month with every passing day until he is older than his own father. The chorus of the song emphasizes the theme of not being able to keep up, with the repeated phrase "vamos, no llegamos" (let's go, we're not going to make it). The singer then returns home to his parents' house, but even there, he feels out of place and restless, rejecting the idea of slowing down and settling down.
Throughout the song, there are references to time and speed, with the singer mentioning seconds and the need to arrive before others. The song argues against the idea that the fastest person is always the winner, with the lyrics stating that being too punctual can cause someone to miss out on the important things in life. Overall, "Vamos no llegamos" is a commentary on the frantic pace of modern life and the need to slow down and appreciate the present.
