He was born in Hamburg, Germany, and studied at the School of Music there. A multi-instrumentalist, he was hired by Hans Busch to play with his orchestra before serving as a bandsman in the German Navy during World War II. He later formed his own big band, toured with them, then worked as an arranger and producer, making hit records with Freddy Quinn and Ivo Robic. In 1961, he hired The Beatles to back Tony Sheridan on "My Bonnie (Lies Over the Ocean)," "When the Saints Go Marching In," "Ain't She Sweet" and "Cry for a Shadow," in a session for Polydor. These turned out to be the Beatles' first commercial recordings. When Beatles manager Brian Epstein asked Kaempfert about further promoting The Beatles, Kaempfert informed Epstein that the company was only interested in The Beatles as Tony Sheridan's backup group. (It also turned out British Decca executive Dick Rowe turned them down in favor of local beat combo Brian Poole and the Tremeloes.) He then released The Beatles from their contract with Polydor.
Just as Much as Ever

I need you and want you to be here
Just as much as ever
I love you, and always will, my dear
Even though we two are parted
My feelings for you never drop
For loving you is something I started And don't know how to stop
Just as much as ever
I'm hoping that you'll be mine again
Darlin', 'cause I'll never be satisfied till then
For I am still the same old me
With the same old love for you
Just as much as ever, my heart beats for you
(Just as much as ever)
(I'm hoping that you'll be mine again)
Darling, 'cause I'll never be satisfied till then
For I am still the same old me
With the same old love for you
Just as much as ever, my heart beats for you
The song Just as Much as Ever by Bert Kaempfert and His Orchestra is a romantic, heartfelt ballad about a person who has separated from their lover but still loves and needs them just as much as ever. The singer expresses how their feelings for the person they have parted with have not diminished in any way and, despite the distance between them, they still want them to be around.
The singer acknowledges that they started loving this person and doesn't know how to stop, their heart still beats for the person they loved before. This song encapsulates feelings of heartbreak and loneliness in a very mature and calm manner. The lyrics talk about the deep emotional connection of the singer with their loved one which is still so strong that they can't resist the thought of being together. The song's overall mood is wistful, and the music provides a perfect complement to the lyrics.

You are very welcome Jim. It's just a shame that not only his music is not played a lot on the airwaves, but also Ray Conniff's too, and other artists of this genre.
