Bertine started her musical journey at a young age, penning her first songs aged just 12. After emerging from a more classical route and music college, she began to concentrate on her long-term fantasy to become a singer-songwriter. Her debut album Morbid Late Night Show, released in 1998, was followed by the Tore Johansson (Cardigans) produced Beautiful So Far in 2000, before Sweet Injections was released in 2003, produced by electronic experts Howie B and Magnus Fiennes and two tracks with producer Richard X (Sugababes, Rachel Stevens) including the hit single Girl Like You, all to widespread critical acclaim and commercial success.
In 2004 Bertine released the more commercial single Fake Your Beauty which became her second best hit to date. The single Ah-Ah was followed by the album Rollerskating, produced by Fred 'Pleasure' Ball.
In 2006 she released the singles 500 and Midnight followed by the album My Italian Greyhound on which she worked again with Fred 'Pleasure' Ball as a producer. This is expected to be her last album as she plans to move into songwriting for other artists.
Bertine is a multiple Norwegian Grammy winner, has played to 60,000 people a night, alongside Chrissie Hynde and Sheryl Crow at Lilleth Fair. She has toured across the world.

Midnight
Bertine Zetlitz Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Using your favorite smile
Keeping it flowing round midnight
You're gonna drift for a while
Going too fast after midnight
You won't be able to choose
Water's too high around midnight
Although you swear
That you will never ever ever loose control
I've seen you slipping baby, sliding
But I've never seen you fall
Keeping your cool after midnight
Leaving with faces you know
Keeping it cool after midnight
Busy, but taking it slow
Seeing your eyes after midnight
Makes me forget what I've lost
Hearing your voice around midnight
Gratefully paying the cost
And though you think that you will never ever ever
Loose your grip
I've seen you tripping, baby
Sliding, but I've never seen you slip
So easy to let go
Much easier I know
So easy to look back
So easy to keep track
I loved you for a while
I loved your weary smile
So easy to keep track
So easy to look back
The lyrics of Bertine Zetlitz's song Midnight revolve around the idea of living life to the fullest and taking risks, especially after midnight when things can get wild and crazy. The song is about the freedom of letting go and living in the moment. The opening lines talk about using your favorite smile to keep yourself afloat after midnight and drifting along for a while. This is a metaphor for living life with joy and ease without worrying about the future or the consequences of your actions.
The second part of the song is about taking risks and going too fast after midnight, and the singer warns that the water is too high, and you're going to lose if you're not careful. But despite the risks, the singer believes in the person she's singing about and believes that they won't lose control, even though they may trip and slide. The song speaks to the idea that it's easy to let go and look back, but it's important to keep track of where you've been and who you've loved.
Overall, Midnight is a song about living life with passion and taking risks, even when things get a little crazy. It's about trusting in yourself and the people you love and never giving up, no matter what challenges come your way.

I love how the girl at 2:50 moves! She's so GENUINE! Letting it go! That's quite un-Scandinavian :)
