Redemption
Besomorph & Coopex feat. Riell Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

You say I make you nervous, a tragedy
I'm a beautiful disaster, a reckoning
You wonder how I got this way (you wonder how I got this way)
You think I'm someone to be saved, someone to clean up and tame
Oh somethings never change, never change, oh

You think I would look pretty on your arm
Once you cover up my bruises and battle scars
But it always ends the same (but it always ends the same)
Can't bear the things I've had to face
Got you crying on your knees in pain
Oh, somethings never change, never change, oh

You'll break your back to make me feel again
Suffocate to make me breathe again
Lose your mind from endless praying
Somethings never change, never change, oh
Redemption never came

I stopped asking for forgiveness 'cause you should know
Only fools tread where the angels fear to go
But you keep trying to get too close
(But you keep trying to get too close)
Saved myself by turning into stone
So save your judgment 'cause you just don't know
But somethings never change, never change, oh

They say I should feel guilty and change my ways
Leaving crumpled bodies in my wake
Swear I didn't mean to make them break
(Swear I didn't mean to make them break)
But they're so delicate and so mundane
And they keep coming like a moth to flame
Oh somethings never change, never change, mmm-mmh

You'll break your back to make me feel again
Suffocate to make me breathe again
Lose your mind from endless praying

Somethings never change, never change, oh
Redemption never came

Overall Meaning

In the song "Redemption" by Besomorph & Coopex feat. Riell, Riell is describing herself as a beautiful disaster, a reckoning, and someone who makes the person she is with nervous. She hints at a past full of bruises and battle scars, and though her significant other wants to help her, she believes that redemption never came. She is tired of being judged and encourages her lover to stop trying to get too close. She explains that she stopped asking for forgiveness and saved herself by turning into stone, indicating that she has had to endure a lot of pain and suffering in her past.

The chorus repeats the idea that some things never change, and the person she is with will break their back to make her feel again and suffocate to make her breathe again. The idea of redemption never coming suggests that Riell does not believe she can change her past actions and therefore does not ask for forgiveness anymore.

One interpretation of the song is that it is about a person who has been through a lot of pain and trauma and is uncomfortable with the idea of being saved by someone else. Instead, she wants to save herself by becoming emotionally numb and turning into stone. The lyrics may also relate to the theme of toxic relationships, where one partner continuously puts themselves in harm's way and the other partner tries to save them even though it is not healthy for either of them.

I stopped seeking absolution because it is futile, and only foolish people venture where the divine forbid. You, however, keep attempting to come nearer. I have protected myself by becoming unmoving, so you should reserve your assessments due to your ignorance; but, despite change being inevitable, certain things will always remain the same.

Some people believe that my actions should instill a sense of remorse and inspire me to change. Still, they fail to realize that they are just fragile and uninteresting, yet they continue to be drawn to me like moths are drawn to a light. However, some things will always remain perpetual.

"i'm a beautiful disaster, a reckoning"

"i stopped asking for forgiveness"

"You keep trying to get too close"

And especially :

" saved myself by turning into stone, so save your judgment cause you just don't know "

Really hit hard when you have anger issues and your aggressivity made you lose peoples you care about so you started to ignore all your negative emotions but now you don't know how to express them anymore so you just burst into random mental breakdowns for stupid things cause it's the only way to let out your bottled up feeling.

And losing those peoples cause of yourself gave you trust issues, fear of lost and abandon and struggle to show affection to your partner.

Like if you relate. Yes i liked my own comment.

Edit:I wrote this when I was 14. In the meantime I realized that my lack of self control, emotion regulation and difficulties to show affection etc... were all due to the fact i'm autistic (which I recently found out as well). Starting therapy in January, hoping it'll help me understand myself and my emotions in better. To all the people who like or responded, consider getting help pls you can't live en survival mode forever.
