My son Alan (Skip) loved this. He died in a auto accident in 1998 at the age of 23. I come back to reminisce every now and thin. LOVE you Skip.

Sherron I am so so sorry to hear this. Your son must have been a bright light in your life for those 23 years. I'll always think of Alan when I think of this song now. Thank you, and I hope someone else thinking of him brings you some comfort.

this is the kind of movies that the cinema lacks for the past 10-15 years. Absolutely brilliant. I am so sick of superheroes everywhere

Films like this ARE still being made but you don't bother to search for them anywhere. You don't get your theaters to ask for them. You don't pay to see them, to get them funded. You're part of the problem, one of the many reasons they don't get popular enough to be accessible everywhere. There's nothing wrong with superhero films being popular either; years ago, Westerns were popular. Before that, sci-fis. Gangster films, and even before that horror films, and before even that trick films. Genre films have always been popular and plastered everywhere, so it's no use blaming them. Hell, superhero films were popular as well when THIS film came out, but you didn't mention that, did you? No, you didn't.

Same! Also, super powers and super heroes don't actually exist. Even though Forrest Gump was a fictional character in a work of fiction, the story/plot dealt with actual historical events that happened in real life like the war in Vietnam! The genre' is more commonly referred to as realistic fiction. I prefer this type of movie to a super hero movie any day of the week! This type of movie has wonderful and uniquely crafted characters with deeply rooted back stories. They pull you in because of the emotional ups and downs they experience through out the plot/story line. It's like when you read a books series and you form a "bond" with the characters in the book series, it's like you're actually IN the book with the characters! That's what the movie Forrest Gump is for me, if that makes any sense?

Late 2000s was when movies like this started to disappear.
