Sky Full Of Clover
Beth Hart Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Body and mind are tired of the load
Still searching for shelter in your own restless thoughts
Believing in anything still you are lost
I will be there just look over your shoulder baby
Longing to share a sky full of clover
See how they're laughing a land full of smile
People in clover are holding up their hands
Praising the holy one the wiser of man
I will be there jut look over your shoulder baby
Longing to share a sky full of clover
I'm not trying to make no contradiction
I'm not trying to make you go my way
I'm not trying to tell ya what I think ya need to know
I'm still trying to figure out my own
Said I'm gonna be there
So now you say to me do I still have time to live out these
Precious dreams that swell up my mind?
Raise me then lay me down and humble my soul
Wash me in patience I'll be whiter than snow
I will be there just look over your shoulder baby
Longing to share there's a sky full a sky full a sky full of clover
The lyrics of Beth Hart's "Sky Full of Clover" tell a story of someone weighed down by their troubles, seeking refuge from their chaotic thoughts but still feeling lost. The first verse asks, "Why do you carry a pocket of stone?" referring to the burdens that one carries within themselves. The singer acknowledges the exhaustion that comes with carrying such weight, but encourages the person to look beyond themselves and their own struggles. The chorus repeats the line, "Longing to share a sky full of clover," suggesting that the singer wants to help the person find a place of peace and contentment.
The second verse takes the listener to a place of natural beauty, a grassy field where orchids bloom and people praise the divine. Here, the singer tells the person to come and join in the joyous celebration, to raise their hands in praise and feel the sense of community that comes with being part of something larger than oneself. The third and final verse turns inward again, with the person asking if they still have time to pursue their dreams before being "laid down" and "humbled." The singer assures them that they will be there to support and encourage, but also acknowledges that they too are still trying to figure things out.
Overall, "Sky Full of Clover" is a song about finding hope and connection in the midst of life's struggles. The imagery of clover and orchids symbolize natural beauty and abundance, while the idea of community and shared experience suggests that we are not alone in our struggles. The lyrics are open-ended enough to be interpreted in many ways, but ultimately the message is one of encouragement and support.
