In 1976, Chapman played with a rock and pop group called "Harmony" in Montgomery, Alabama, effectively replacing Tommy Shaw who had just left to join Styx. She played acoustic guitar and piano as well as providing vocals for the group in a locally-popular bowling alley bar called Kegler's Kove and has returned to play in the area on an infrequent basis ever since.
Chapman has had several popular songs on the Adult-Contemporary charts in the 1990's, such as "I Keep Coming Back To You", "Walk My Way", "The Moment You Were Mine" and "All I Have". In 1993, she sang a popular duet with Paul Carrack, "In The Time It Takes". In early 2010 Chapman's "Back To Love" album was #1 on the UK itunes country charts.
Co-songwriter of Faith Hill's hit song, "This Kiss", many other singers have interpreted her songs: Trisha Yearwood ("Down On My Knees"), Martina McBride ("Happy Girl"), Willie Nelson (“Nothing I Can Do About it Now”), Tanya Tucker (“Strong Enough to Bend”), Lorrie Morgan (“Five Minutes”), Mary Chapin Carpenter (“Almost Home”), Bette Midler ("The Color of Roses") and others.
Bonnie Raitt has sung background vocals on several songs, including "Shake My Soul".
Chapman's husband Ernest Chapman died of cancer in 1994. In 2000, Beth experienced her own battle with breast cancer. The song "Sand And Water" was written after Ernest's death; Elton John performed this song during his 1997 World Tour.

The song Salve Regina by Beth Nielsen Chapman is a Latin hymn dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The lyrics are a series of praises directed towards Mary, acknowledging her unique status as the mother of mercy and the source of grace. The song begins with the lines "Salve Regina coelitum, O Maria! Sors unica terrigenum, O Maria!", which translates to "Hail, Queen of Heaven, O Mary! Only hope of the earthborn, O Mary!" The hymn then goes on to call upon the angels, the cherubim, and the seraphim to rejoice and exalt Mary perpetually, as she is the light of life and the cause of our joy.
The second verse continues the praises, calling Mary the mother of mercy and the sweet parent of clemency. The hymn then turns back to the angels, asking them to join in singing Mary's praises with joy and exultation. The final verse is a plea to Mary for her help and protection, acknowledging her as a source of comfort and strength for those who are exiled and in need of guidance. The song ends with a repetition of the first verse, emphasizing Mary's queenly status as the hope of all who dwell upon the earth.
Overall, Salve Regina is a powerful hymn of devotion to the Virgin Mary, acknowledging her as a source of strength and comfort for all who seek her aid. The Latin language and the use of traditional religious imagery add to the hymn's solemnity and power, making it a fitting tribute to one of the central figures of Christian worship.
