Bethany Curve is still very active, currently working on their 7th full-length record as of 2011 called Murder. The band derived it's name from a short street called Bethany Curve near the cliffs of the Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz. Richard Millang originally disliked it because it sounded similar to bands like Catherine Wheel.

Bethany Curve Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
Seems like life is ever still
In a sense it's like the sand
Keeps me warm inside
You will need
Something stronger
Feels like
Senses say
Give in
There's a way
Drives me insane
Ancient light
Meets me here
But that's okay
Truth inside
Needs to see
In your smile
Take inside
Meets this wake
In our glands
You'll never see
Resting down
In our town
Inside
It's getting that time
in my life when nothing's sure inside my head. The phrase "getting that time" suggests that the singer is reaching a certain age where existential confusion is common. The theme of uncertainty is echoed in the second line which points out that life seems to be stagnant. The third and fourth lines share a metaphor, comparing the feeling of being stagnant to sand, which can "keep me warm inside." This could suggest that even though life seems stuck, the singer is using it as a form of comfort.
The second stanza introduces the idea that the singer needs something stronger to help combat this sense of stagnancy. The sand image is continued with "sand sleepers," which implies that the singer is in a type of slumber, waiting for something to awaken them. The phrase "there's a way" suggests that the singer has not lost all hope in life getting better. However, the last two lines of this stanza seem to suggest that this malaise is causing the singer to lose their grip on sanity.
The final stanza begins with an enigmatic reference to "ancient light," which could suggest something mystical. Despite that, the singer seems satisfied, and in contrast to earlier lines, they express that their truth needs to see something real. The line "Take inside / Meets this wake" is also somewhat cryptic, but the vivid imagery of "our glands" and the word "resting" create a sensual atmosphere that fits the song's dreamy soundscape.
