Let Me Take You There
Betty Boo Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm at work, I don't feel like working
The sun is out, don't tell me off for lazing
It's so hot 'cause my ice cream's melting
We're only used to the same rain belting
Belting down, why don't we take the top down
And drive around and pump up the sound
Leave this desk, oh yes, this is a protest
Go to the seaside and you could be my guest
Rest assured, you know we'll have a good time
Bathe in the sea and bathe in the sunshine
We've got all day 'cause this time is all mine
We'll take it easy, the sun goes down at nine
We'll take a hamper with some cashews and shampoos
Now and then we need a good pamper
We'll make our way for the day with much promptness
Excuse me while I make the most of this

Come on, let me take you there, this is something we can share
Come on, let me take you there, ooh ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh yeah
Come on, let me take you there, this is something we can share
Come on, let me take you there, ooh ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh yeah
Take proctection now, don't say I didn't warn ya
You must be careful, you'll go as pink as a lobster
Only have to look at the sun and then I go brown
Don't want to upset you, come on, let's go to the fairground
The house of fun, the big wheel and the dungeons
There's loads to do, so many of them
I don't feel like going back to the grindstone
But what'll we do when the sun goes down

Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh, ooh ooh
Ooh ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh yeah

I love this lady. I met her at a record signing at HMV when I was 9 years old. I remember her hugging me and saying to my mum that she wanted to take me home with her because I was cute 😁 I've got this memory of looking back as I walked away and she was waving and smiling at me. I'm so upset that I lost the autograph she gave me. I moved so many times and it went missing at some point. Shame there were no digital cameras/mobile phones back then 😢

So envious. Sad you lost your autograph.

How lovely and a wonderful memory! Betty rules and I really hope her comeback this year (2022) is really successful! 🥰 #GetMeToTheWeekend

Back in 1990-ish I was working at BBC TV Centre and she was doing a slot on Top Of The Pops (I think). I opened the door to Blue tea room and she ducked under my arm. I have many brushes with stars, but this is my favourite :)

I love this song...I feel like she never got the accolades that she deserves. An inspiration and opened the door for female rappers.

I love the video!  With Betty all dolled up and so beautiful, and her rapping lyrics with the singing chorus, and the scenery as well, and the end with the maid joining with the guys and dancing, and everyone having a ball.  Makes me feel a tad happier every time I hear and watch this.

Makes me feel deep and long and wide exciting joy and love

This song is not good. It is absolutely brilliant...the lyrics, her vocals, the backing vocals and the input from the musicians who make this song float in a dream. Duke Ellington once said 'There are two types of music, good music, and bad music'. I only found this song 3 weeks ago and can't believe that it did not flag up in the charts and catapult Betty Boo into mega stardom.

@pierrelarouge

loved this song, still a great summer tune.
