Black Flowers
Betty Curse Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yesterday I wanted to experience your pain
Always do and always will I wanna feel the same
That's why the angels trying to escape the hell of modern life

Underground the music scene is taking its sweet time
All the while the heads of state are planning their next crime
That's why the angels trying to escape the hell of modern life
Black flowers, black flowers
Only bloom at night
Black flowers, black flowers
Hiding from the light

Should you save or separate your loved ones from the past
All those convocations turn to legalising grass
That's why the angels trying to escape the hell of modern life

Black flowers, black flowers
Only bloom at night
Black flowers, black flowers
Hiding from the light

Watch them grow, its kinda scary
No one knows
Watch them grow, its kinda scary
No one knows

Black flowers, black flowers
Only bloom at night
Black flowers, black flowers
Hiding from the light
Black flowers, black flowers
Only you and I can see them

Black flowers
Hiding the light, tonight

Overall Meaning

The lyrics in "Black Flowers" by Betty Curse depict a desire to experience someone else's pain, to feel the same struggles and emotions they are going through. This longing is compared to the angels who are trying to escape the suffering of modern life. The underground music scene is contrasted with the corrupt planning of politicians, further emphasizing the oppressive nature of society. The metaphor of black flowers is used to represent something hidden and mysterious, only blooming at night and hiding from the light. The chorus repeats this imagery and adds a sense of exclusivity, as only the singer and the listener can see these black flowers.

The second verse is a reflection on personal relationships and the choices of either saving or separating loved ones from the past. The legalizing of marijuana is mentioned as a turning point in society, again highlighting the contrast between outdated laws and the rebellion of the underground. The repetition of the chorus emphasizes the theme of secrecy and isolation, with the black flowers being a symbol of escape from the oppressive world.

Overall, "Black Flowers" is a reflective song on the struggles of modern society and the desire to break free from it. The use of metaphors and contrasting imagery creates a sense of depth and complexity to the lyrics.

Other Betty Curse song I love! Why can't they put her album on the American Itunes?

Topottsel

Well her music is about 3 years old now and the cost of licensing and other fee's incurred from bringing the tracks to US would either be unprofitable or barely profitable. Unfortunately the big music label that owns her songs is only interested in making lots of money, not in making people happy.

Topottsel

No problem =]

Dr Gunsmith

she won best actress award for the film Liam it's a shame she quit acting for singing as she could of been so hugely popular as an actress she was great in 28 days later too, just hope she's doing ok.

Topottsel

She's doing good, she manages music artists now, has a long term partner and kid. https://twitter.com/1986BC
