Betty Johnson Lyrics

Let me say that I do
If you lend me your ear
I'll make it clear that I do
Let me whisper it
Let me sigh it
Let me sing it my dear
Or I will cry it
Let me love you
Let me show that I do
Let me do a million impossible things
So you'll know that I do
I'll buy you the dawn
If you'll let me love you today
And tomorrow I'll send you merrily on your way
Let me love you
Let me show that I do
Let me do a million impossible things
So you'll know that I do
I'll buy you the dawn
If you'll let me love you today
And tomorrow I'll send you merrily on your way
Ooh tomorrow I'll send you happily on your way
The song Let Me Love You by Betty Johnson is a beautiful love song that expresses the desire of the singer to love and care for her beloved. The lyrics emphasize how deeply she wants to love her partner and how far she is willing to go for that love. The singer starts by asking for her partner's attention, urging him to listen to her declaration of love. She then goes on to suggest that she would utter her feelings in a variety of ways - whispers, sighs, and even songs - just to make sure her partner knows how much she loves him. The chorus further emphasizes the commitment of the singer to her beloved, proposing that she is ready to do impossible things just to prove her love to him. The most notable line in this regard is "I'll buy you the dawn," implying that she would give to him something impossible to purchase just to show how much she loves him.
Throughout the song, the singer's tone is that of intense emotion, with a blend of vulnerability and conviction. By expressing her love so directly and openly, she exposes herself to the possibility of rejection, making her feelings all the more poignant. Nevertheless, she is bold and relentless in her pursuit of love, willing to do whatever it takes to express her feelings to her beloved.
Overall, Let Me Love You by Betty Johnson is a song that celebrates intense, passionate love, unafraid of the risks and willing to go to all lengths to make it known.

Sorry, the nerd in me has to correct. This song began charting November 24, 1956, on Billboard's "Top 100". It peaked at #12 on February 16, 1957, on the "Top 100". (The iconic "Hot 100" didn't exist until August of 1958.) The song did peak at #9 on the "Most Played by Jockeys" chart, as well as peaking at #15 on the "Most Played in Juke Boxes" chart and #22 on the "Best Sellers in Stores" chart. Thanks for making this song available! I've been compiling a week-by-week list of every song that ever charted on the "Hot 100", and I thought for artists like Betty (and especially Elvis) who charted before that chart began, I should capture the ranking history of the artists on the "Top 100" chart that preceded it.
