Between the Buried and Me Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
air. Soothing movements that help the evening come to a halt. Lifetime
achievement... the looks on their faces make it worthwhile. The swaying
of the ocean, to the swaying of your hips...shivering as your lover's
caress touches your lips. Perfect world and perfect lives, we have the
soundtrack for their futures. The seawater smell in the cold outside
world seems to be enchanting the room. The chatter of riches keeping the
beat, as the sea seems to freeze. The brisk air seems to make our hearts
must play on. The perfect life torn apart in a matter of seconds...I hear
their streams and cries...I know now that I'm the only one who possesses
true happiness. We must play on. The perfect life torn apart in a matter
of seconds...I hear their screams and cries...I know now that I'm the only
one who possesses true happiness. We must play on. Keep the beat, we tap
our feet...screams add a new feel to what we've perfected so dear. We'll
play to our deaths for we possess true happiness. We are finally free.
Dying with our one passion, music: the greatest wealth of them all. We
must play on.
The lyrics of "Aesthetic" by Between the Buried and Me speak about the fleeting nature of perfection and happiness, and how music can provide a temporary escape from the harsh realities of life. The song begins with a description of a perfect moment where everything seems to be going well - the lights are dimmed, there are smiles all around, and there's a sense of calmness in the air. The singer talks about how this moment is worth achieving and how the looks on people's faces make it all worthwhile.
The scene then transitions to a moment of intimacy shared between two lovers- the swaying of the ocean is compared to the swaying of hips, and the touch of a lover's caress on the lips sends shivers down the spine. However, the singer realizes that this momentary happiness is just an illusion and that the perfect world they've created can be torn apart in a matter of seconds. They hear screams and cries in the distance, and the once-dimming smiles have halted with a silent scream.
Despite the chaos and destruction around them, the singer urges their bandmates to keep playing as they possess the true happiness that comes with creating music. The screams and chaos of the outside world only add fuel to their passion, and they keep playing until their deaths. In the end, music becomes their greatest wealth, and they die with their one passion intact.
