The three were subsequently joined by Steve LaFolette (bass & vocals), Pat Noel (keyboards & guitar), Steve St. Cin (drums), and Ana Pitchon, who toured as Beulah in 1998, before recording When Your Heartstrings Break. Bill Evans (keyboards) then joined the band to play live. Steve St. Cin left the band to be replaced by Danny Sullivan, before The Coast is Never Clear was released in 2000. Bill Evans and Steve LaFolette then left, to be replaced by Pat Abernathy and Eli Crews respectively. Beulah went on to record 2003's Yoko, then toured North America and Europe before a goodbye show on August 5th 2004, in New York.
A DVD, A Good Band is Easy to Kill was released in 2005 and features documentary footage from Beulah's 2003 tour.
Me and Jesus Don't Talk Anymore

Don't be sad that I'm going
Don't be sad that I'm going
Cause I leave tonight
Can you give me that, friend?
Without a soul to sell along the way
The devil rides with me again
And maybe I'm losing sleep over nothing
Maybe I'll be just fine
He's tears me away from all those little things
That seemed so important when I knew you
And though we are falling stars
We feel just fine
And though it seems we're not far
We need more time
And can you give me that, friend?
You know the devil holds a lease
And so hard to get man
It's been twenty years since I've been clean
Maybe I'm losing sleep over nothing
He tells me I'll just be fine
He's in my blood
He's thicker than blood
He seems so important
And you keep fading
And though we are falling stars
We feel just fine
And though it seems we're not far
We need more time
Woke up today
Just called to say
Your body's cold and you're going nowhere
Woke up today
Just called to say
Your body's cold, you're going nowhere
Oh, you're going nowhere
Oh, you're going nowhere
Oh, you're going nowhere
The lyrics to Beulah's song "Me and Jesus Don't Talk Anymore" are a reflection of one's internal struggle with addiction and the damage it causes to relationships. The repetition of "don't be sad that I'm going" emphasizes that the singer's decision to leave is not based on a desire to hurt anyone, but to escape their own personal demons. The line "the devil rides with me again" suggests that the singer's addiction is personified by the devil. Despite knowing that their addiction is destructive, the singer finds themselves unable to resist its pull, as the devil tells them that everything will be okay.
The lyrics also touch on the theme of time and how it is perceived when one is struggling with addiction. In the line "He tears me away from all those little things that seemed so important when I knew you", the singer is alluding to the small joys and moments that bring us together, but are often forgotten when consumed by addiction. The chorus of the song ("and though we are falling stars, we feel just fine") suggests that the singer and other addicts are resigned to their fate, yet still find solace in one another's company, even if it is fleeting.
Towards the end of the song, there is a sudden shift in perspective, with the singer receiving a call that someone they know has died. The line "woke up today, just called to say, your body's cold and you're going nowhere" evokes a sense of loss and regret. The final repetition of "you're going nowhere" further emphasizes the themes of time and the inevitable consequences of addiction.
