Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé began performing in local competitions at age 7, eventually forming the group Girl's Tyme in 1990 with help from her parents. Girl's Tyme became Destiny's Child in 1997.
During the hiatus of Destiny's Child in 2003, Beyoncé released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, which became one of the most successful albums of that year, and signaled her viability as a solo artist. The disbanding of Destiny's Child in 2005 facilitated her continued success: her sophomore solo album B'Day, released in 2006, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. Her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, was released in November 2008, and in 2009 she received 10 Grammy Awards nominations. On January 31, 2010, she won 6 Grammy Awards, breaking the record for most Grammy awards won by a female artist in one night; she previously held the record of five awards with 5 other artists. Following a career hiatus, Beyoncé released her fourth studio album entitled "4" on June 24, 2011, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.

Back To Black

Kept my dick wet with that same old bet
Oh you
You and your head high and your tears dry
Get on without your guy and I, I, I went back to a new
So far removed from all we've been through
And you and you you, you tread a troubled track
Your odds are always stacked, you'll go back to black
We only said goodbye with words
I knew a hundred times
I go back to her and you go back to, (you go back to)
I, I loved you much, it's not enough
I love blow and you love puff
And life, is like a pipe
And I'm a tiny penny rollin' up the walls inside
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her and I go back to
We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to, I go back to black
The lyrics of Beyonce ft Andre 3000's song Back To Black seemingly talk about a failed relationship and the aftermath of the separation. The lines, "I left no time to regret, kept my dick wet with that same old bet" suggest that the persona might have been unfaithful or careless, not taking the time to think or worry about the break-up. The chorus "And you and you you, you tread a troubled track, your odds are always stacked, you'll go back to black" implies that the other person has a long-standing pattern or history of making wrong decisions and may have battled depression or addiction.
The persona recognizes a difference in habits between them, displayed by the lines, "I love blow and you love puff." Their relationship had reached a point where they were beyond repair, and both parties ended it, yet the persona can't seem to fully move on. The lines, "life is like a pipe, and I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside" suggest a sense of being stuck, unable to escape or progress. The closing lines "We only said goodbye with words, I died a hundred times, you go back to her, and I go back to, I go back to black" show no closure, and the memories still weigh heavy and haunting, so they go back to their vices or unhealthy coping mechanisms.

Covers aren't meant to sound exactly like the original. Otherwise there would be no point in making a fucking cover. This version is awesome in its own way as is the original.
