Her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, was released in November 2008, and in 2009 she received 10 Grammy Awards nominations. The lyrics to "Check Up On It" by Beyoncé featuring Slim Thug are about a confident woman who is proud of her sexuality, wants to show it off, but on her own terms. She sings about catching the eye of a man who she wants to come over and "check up on it." Beyoncé asserts that she's in control and she will "let him work up on it." The song is filled with dance-worthy beats, catchy lyrics, and fun, flirty energy.
The use of the term "check up on it" can have multiple interpretations – it can mean checking out her body or performance, but it can also imply approval, validation, or admiration. Moreover, she makes it clear that looking is okay but touching is not, putting the power back in her own hands. The message is empowering and confident, with emphasis on being proud of one's body and taking control of one's own sexual desires.
Overall, the song is fun, playful, and features a lot of catchy hooks and beats. It's a great dance track and highlights Beyoncé's skill as a performer and artist.
