Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé began performing in local competitions at age 7, eventually forming the group Girl's Tyme in 1990 with help from her parents. Girl's Tyme became Destiny's Child in 1997.
During the hiatus of Destiny's Child in 2003, Beyoncé released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, which became one of the most successful albums of that year, and signaled her viability as a solo artist. The disbanding of Destiny's Child in 2005 facilitated her continued success: her sophomore solo album B'Day, released in 2006, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. Her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, was released in November 2008, and in 2009 she received 10 Grammy Awards nominations. On January 31, 2010, she won 6 Grammy Awards, breaking the record for most Grammy awards won by a female artist in one night; she previously held the record of five awards with 5 other artists. Following a career hiatus, Beyoncé released her fourth studio album entitled "4" on June 24, 2011, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.

Heavy
Beyoncé Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
You got so heavy, baby
Heavy, heavy
You got so heavy on me
You used to be
So light and free
You used to smile just looking at me
Is jealous hate
C'mon, baby baby, loose some weight
Heavy, heavy
You got so heavy, baby (yeah, yeah)
Heavy, heavy
You got so heavy on me
Heavy, heavy
You got so heavy, baby (yeah, yeah)
Heavy, heavy
You got so heavy on me
You used to want
Nothing from me
You used to say, "Let's both be free"
You used to dance
Instead of walk
You never had to talk, talk, talk
Heavy, heavy (talk, talk, talk)
You got so heavy baby (talk, talk, talk)
Heavy, heavy (talk, talk, talk)
Heavy, heavy, heavy, heavy
The lyrics to Beyoncé's song Heavy seem to be speaking to a partner who has developed feelings of jealousy and possessiveness, ultimately resulting in a heavy emotional burden on the other person in the relationship. The song appears to be a call for this partner to take responsibility for their behavior and work towards resolving the issue. The lines "You used to be so light and free" and "You used to smile just looking at me" suggest that this person was once carefree and happy before these negative emotions took over. Beyoncé then pleads with them to "loose some weight", implying that they need to shed the emotional weight they are carrying in order to regain their former selves and heal the relationship.
Overall, the lyrics touch on themes of emotional burden, jealousy, and the desire for freedom and happiness in relationships. It can be interpreted as a message of hope, as Beyoncé is urging her partner to take steps towards resolving their issues and reclaiming the lightness and joy that they once had in their relationship.
