Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé began performing in local competitions at age 7, eventually forming the group Girl's Tyme in 1990 with help from her parents. Girl's Tyme became Destiny's Child in 1997.
During the hiatus of Destiny's Child in 2003, Beyoncé released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, which became one of the most successful albums of that year, and signaled her viability as a solo artist. The disbanding of Destiny's Child in 2005 facilitated her continued success: her sophomore solo album B'Day, released in 2006, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. Her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, was released in November 2008, and in 2009 she received 10 Grammy Awards nominations. On January 31, 2010, she won 6 Grammy Awards, breaking the record for most Grammy awards won by a female artist in one night; she previously held the record of five awards with 5 other artists. Following a career hiatus, Beyoncé released her fourth studio album entitled "4" on June 24, 2011, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.

Start Over

We've been here before
'Cause I feel we keep going back and forth
Maybe it's over
Maybe we're through
But I honestly can't say I still love you
Maybe we reached the mountain peak
And maybe we lost the magic piece
And we're both too blind to find
Let's start over
Let's give love their wings
Let's start over
Stop fighting 'bout the same old things
Let's start over
We can't let our good love die
Maybe we can start all over
Give love another life
I can see that we're not happy here
So why would we keep pretending when there's nothing there
Maybe you like it, well I don't
And maybe you settle
Well I won't
Maybe we reached the mountain peak
And there's no more left to climb
And maybe we lost the magic piece
And we're both too blind to find
Let's start over
Let's give love their wings
Let's start over
Stop fighting 'bout the same old things
Let's start over
We can't let our good love die
Maybe we can start all over
And give love another life
I know that this will hurt you
I know you'll cry
I know I called you selfish
But that's a lie
I feel I know what's best for us
Let's
Start over
And let's give love their wings
Let's start over
I'm tired of fighting 'bout the same old thing
Let's start over
We both know that this love won't die
Maybe we can start all over
And give love another life
In the song "Start Over," Beyoncé expresses her feelings about a problematic relationship. She feels weak and frustrated at the constant back-and-forth with her partner. Beyoncé reflects on how they may have reached their peak, and maybe the magic has gone. She wants to start over and give their love a new life. She believes it's better to let go of the past and move forward in a new direction together. Beyoncé acknowledges that the process might be painful, but it's necessary. She believes they can give their love another chance if they could start over.
Beyoncé's lyrics show her willingness to fight for the relationship even when there appears to be nothing left to fight for. She is open and honest in saying that a change is necessary. The phrase "Let's give love their wings" means granting love the freedom to flourish, which requires starting over. Beyoncé wants to work together with her partner to authorize love to spread its wings and soar without any obstruction.
