Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Beyoncé began performing in local competitions at age 7, eventually forming the group Girl's Tyme in 1990 with help from her parents. Girl's Tyme became Destiny's Child in 1997.
During the hiatus of Destiny's Child in 2003, Beyoncé released her debut solo album, Dangerously in Love, which became one of the most successful albums of that year, and signaled her viability as a solo artist. The disbanding of Destiny's Child in 2005 facilitated her continued success: her sophomore solo album B'Day, released in 2006, debuted at number one on the Billboard charts. Her third solo album, I Am… Sasha Fierce, was released in November 2008, and in 2009 she received 10 Grammy Awards nominations. On January 31, 2010, she won 6 Grammy Awards, breaking the record for most Grammy awards won by a female artist in one night; she previously held the record of five awards with 5 other artists. Following a career hiatus, Beyoncé released her fourth studio album entitled "4" on June 24, 2011, which debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200.

Them hustlas keep on talkin'
They like the way I'm walkin'
You saying that you want me?
So press record, I’ll let you film me
On your video phone
Take me on your video phone
I can handle you
Watch me on your video phone
On your video, video
If you want me you can watch me on your video phone
I love how you approach me
Fresh white, with your pants, hanging grown man low
Everything you sayin' soundin’ good to me
No need to convince me anymore
Swag up, it's right, one blade is tight
And I smell your cologne in the air
Baby, you doin' somethin' right
You just cancelled every other man here
You say you like my bag, and the color of my nails
You can see that I got it goin' on
I wanna make sure you remember me
So I'ma leave my number on your video phone
I got no time for frontin'
I know just what I’m wantin'
If it's gonna be you and me
When I call, they better see me on your video screen
Them hustlas keep on talkin'
They like the way I'm walkin'
You saying that you want me?
So press record, I’ll let you film me
On your video phone
Make a cameo
Take me on your video phone
I can handle you
Watch me on your video phone
On your video, video
If you want me you can watch me on your video phone
You a cutie
You should let me put you in my movies
Do shoot into a star of your own hit song
We can shoot the video right here on my cellphone
I never seen a smile so pretty
I need to know I'll always have you wit' me
So take your picture on my video phone
You can pick your own song
And you could be the only one
I know you like that
Turn you into a star? I got it like that (like that)
Baby don't fight it
'Cause when I miss your call I hit you right back
On my video phone
Them hustlas keep on talkin'
They like the way I'm walkin'
You saying that you want me?
So press record, I’ll let you film me
On your video phone
Make a cameo
Take me on your video phone
I can handle you
Watch me on your video phone
On your video, video
If you want me you can watch me on your video phone
You know them G's they be hollerin'
'Specially them hot ones
Brooklyn, Atlanta, Houston to New Orleans
When they see me they be like, "Yo, B, let me call you!"
You breakin' my focus, boy you cute and you ballin'
You like it when I shake it?
Shawty on a mission, what yo name is?
What? You want me naked?
If you liking this position you can tape it
On your video phone
Them hustlas keep on talkin'
You like the way it's poppin'
You saying that you want me?
Press record, baby film me
On your video phone
Make a cameo
Take me on your video phone
I can handle you
Watch me on your video phone
On your video, video
If you want me you can watch me on your video phone
The song Videophone, by Beyoncé, is a conversation between two people who are attracted to each other. The first verse is from the perspective of the woman, who is being approached by the man. She is confident and comfortable with the attention she is receiving. She tells him to film her with his video phone and take a cameo of her. She emphasizes that she wants to be remembered, so she gives him her number to be captured on the video screen. The second verse is from the perspective of the man. He compliments her and tells her how much he likes her. He also offers to make her a star in her own hit song and shoot a video with her on his cellphone. The chorus is a repetition of the woman telling the man to film her and take a cameo of her on his video phone.
The lyrics of this song seem to be about the use of technology in modern dating. The idea of recording oneself on video and on a device has become a common way of communicating and staying connected. The use of the video phone and taking a cameo is a modern way of flirting and expressing interest. The woman in the song is confident and in control, telling the man exactly what she wants without hesitation. The man, on the other hand, is being somewhat seduced and responding to her advances. Overall, the song is a playful exploration of modern technology and its place in modern relationships.
