Lift High the Banner of Falseness
Beyond The Sixth Seal Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The lyrics of Beyond The Sixth Seal's song Lift High the Banner of Falseness are filled with imagery and symbolism that convey the idea of a world that is bleeding and suffering. The opening lines about the "blackened earth and sphere pronounced stronger than before" suggest that the world has been through some kind of cataclysmic event that has left it scarred and damaged. This bleeds "for all reason" implying that the events that led to this state were not logical or justifiable. The singer is unsure of the "choices" that have led to this point, suggesting that humans may have played a role in this destruction.
The second stanza talks about the "taste of relief" that comes from making choices based on "pure lust." This lust is dulling the concerns for the universe, indicating that people are only thinking about their own pleasure and ignoring the impact their actions have on the world. The singer is struggling to decide whether they will "join the circles of madness" or "nurture the ghost," which may be a reference to submitting to the current state of the world or fighting against it, respectively. The final lines of the song talk about the "banner of falseness" that has fire-cleansed flesh and indicates that lies and falsehoods have burned away the truth of the situation.
