Rock Star Man
Bif Naked Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
This irritating boy
Step on a crack to break his back,
For he brings to me no joy
He speaks too long
I reply in tongues he doesn't understand
Can he not see I must be free,
Dissatisfied, I hear his lies
And reply candidly,
"Please, rock star man, change all your plans,
And please stop phoning me!"
In Bif Naked's song Rock Star Man, the singer is expressing their frustration with a clingy, annoying boy who constantly calls and talks excessively. The lyrics "He phones to yak and wack wack wack, this irritating boy" and "Step on a crack to break his back, for he brings to me no joy" demonstrate the singer's annoyance with the boy's behavior. The lyrics further indicate that the boy does not understand the singer when they speak in tongues, suggesting a lack of communication or understanding between them.
The singer desires freedom from the boy's constant attention and wishes to move on from the relationship. The line "Can he not see I must be free, for me he's not the man?" suggests that the singer no longer sees a future with the boy and feels as though he is not the right match for her. The song highlights the singers' dissatisfaction with the boy's lies and their candid request for him to change his plans and stop calling.
