Jenny
Bifrost Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sig mig, Jenny hvem har sagt -
At dagen er begyndt
Det er bare mørket -
Der bli'r gammelt svagt og tyndt
Vi er kapslet ind -
I denne nat af uvished
Jenny, det er alt vi ved
Sig mig Jenny, hvem har sagt -
At vi har noget mål?
Vi er bare gnister -
Som er sprunget fra et bål
Vi er denne gåde -
Som bli'r opløst om en tid
Jenny, det er alt vi ved

Sig mig Jenny, al den snak -
Om død og kærlighed
Tror du virk'lig nogen af os -
Vil ha' klar besked?
Vi vil lege guder -
I en drøm om evighed
Jenny, det er alt vi ved

Sig mig Jenny, hvad du mener -
Med at vi er til?
Er vi ikke bare gæster -
I det store spil?
Vi er emigranter -

Som bli'r tolereret her
Jenny, det er alt vi er

Overall Meaning

In Bifrost's song "Jenny," the singer is asking their friend and possibly lover, Jenny, who told them that the day has begun. They state that it is only the darkness that is becoming faint and thin. They both are encapsulated in the uncertainty of the night, and that is all they know. The singer then asks Jenny if they have any goals, stating that they are merely sparks that have fallen from a fire. They are a mystery that will be solved in time, and that is all they know. The song then questions the meaning of death and love and wonders if anyone truly knows the answer. They express that they want to be like gods, living in a dream of eternity, and that is all they know. Finally, they ask Jenny what she thinks their purpose is, and they question whether they are guests in a great game or simply emigrants who are tolerated on this earth.

"Bifrost" is a Danish rock band that formed in 1971.
