In the Morning
Big Head Todd and The Monsters Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Won't you tell me in the morning
Of the kisses that you left me in my sleep

Of all the thunder and the stormin'
Of all the racket in the street

[Chorus]
And if the sun should open wide
Your eyes to find another day
And I'll never take you back
If you can't find your own way

I want to tell you in the morning
Of the demons that I killed in my dreams
And should the devil take me now, here's a warnin'
Ah, hell can't come between you and me

[Chorus]

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of "In the Morning" by Big Head Todd and the Monsters seem to be a conversation between two lovers who are trying to communicate about their experiences of the previous night. Right from the beginning, the song has a pensive tone as the singer asks their lover to recount moments of affection they may have missed. The lyrics become metaphoric when describing the outside world, referring to the noise in the streets as "racket."

As the song continues, the singer also shares their personal struggles by mentioning the demons they killed in their dreams. The lyrics suggest that the singer is dealing with internal conflicts, which may affect their relationship. But the chorus is where we see the singer's firm determination for their lover to find their own way in the world. The lines "And I'll never take you back/ If you can't find your own way" show that the singer is not willing to compromise their values.

Overall, "In the Morning" is a song that expresses both love and vulnerability. The lyrics reveal a couple who are trying to bridge the gap between them while sharing their experiences on their personal journey.

Wow, I've spent years searching the internet for this song. I remember hearing it on the radio around 1994. It's one of those songs that's played on radio stations for about a month, then just fades into oblivion. I never knew the title or artist, just a few lyrics. That's what I had to use for my search. I finally found it.
