Rise and Shine

But for some reason like IDK if it was spirit or myself but I just woke up
5:45, I am alive, going to Rideau Street
11:45, I am making my way to school
I wish I hit snooze
I wish I had a boo
Rise and Shine
You cannot
From all
From all of the good times
From all of the bad times
sometimes you're not fine
Rise and Shine
You cannot
Run and hide
From all
From all of the good times
From all of the bad times
sometimes you're not fine
12:50, I am finally free, munybee on the breeze
1:30, finally home, not for long need to go to work
I wish I had a million dollars
I wish I had not chose to be a scholar
Rise and Shine
You cannot
Run and hide
From all
From all of the good times
From all of the bad times
sometimes you're not fine
Rise and Shine
You cannot
Run and hide
From all
From all of the good times
From all of the bad times
sometimes you're not fine
In "Rise and Shine", Big K.R.I.T. reflects on the ups and downs of his life and the world around him. The opening lines repeat the phrase "My God it's good to see you," suggesting a sense of gratitude for being alive and present in the world. This thankfulness, however, is tempered by the harsh realities of living in a capitalist society. The repetition of "Another day another dollar" highlights the repetitive nature of the daily grind, with the outcome of each day being little more than making money to survive.
K.R.I.T. then critiques the corporate world, saying "Another kill for the corporate collar." The phrase "killing the laughter" suggests that the focus on money and power stifles joy and humor. K.R.I.T. emphasizes his own independence, declaring that he's "second to no one and no one to me," and won't conform to society's expectations. The line "I can't be what the world can't be to me" expresses his desire to live authentically, rather than trying to fit into a predetermined mold.
The chorus repeats the opening line, but with a deeper sense of longing and appreciation. K.R.I.T. then speaks on the importance of perspective and knowledge, saying "The more I look the more I learn." He expresses a desire for growth and understanding, revealing his yearning to see the world for what it truly is. The final line "Money God, rise and shine" underscores his point that greed and capitalism have become a modern-day religion that dominates and controls society.
