Kenneth Doniell Moore was born in Houston, Texas on August 20, 1974, and he grew up in southeast Houston. He graduated from Yates High School in 1992 and he was a former high school football star.
As one of the founding members of the "Original Screwed Up Click," Big Moe started out in music by freestyling on DJ Screw mixtapes before being signed to Wreckshop Records. Wreckshop Records released Big Moe's debut album, City of Syrup in (2000); the title a nod to Houston's reputation for drinking codeine-laced syrup, which Moe pours from a Styrofoam cup on the album's cover. "City of Syrup" album featured the single, "Mann!", which Moe intended to be The South Side's answer to Black Rob's East Coast hit "Whoa!". A year and half later, Moe returned with his second album, Purple World in (2002). This release showcased a Who's Who of Houston vocalists and two versions of Moe's breakthrough single, "Purple Stuff." The Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory-themed video for "Purple Stuff" was played on MTV and the album ranked as high as No. 3 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Big Moe's third and last album, Moe Life, was issued in 2003, including the commercially successful single "Just a Dog." A posthumous album entitled Unfinished Business was released on March 18, 2008 via Wreckshop Records and Koch Records. In 2009 his album City Of Syrup was named number 25 on houstonpress.com's list of the 25 Best Houston Hip Hop Albums.
Moe died on October 14, 2007 at 33 years old, after suffering a heart attack one week earlier that left him in a coma.

Well it ain't no plex with the East and the West
With plenty drink for your kids and plenty of weed for your chest
So leave your pistol at home cause we ain't trying to go to war
The common denominator in the sitution
is barre like a star you can shine with
Roll on 20's and smoke pine with me
c'mon and try to leave your mind with me
With so much drank in my cup the soda water don't even move
I's a playa can't associate with the plexin
Bone hard, bitch, Mo City, Texas
And a veteran don't get me wrong cause put you a glass
Pour you a glass instead of beating on your ass
Take a chill pill bill
Blow some kill pop the steal
Since we won't ba seen
Sippin syrup till we leave
From the dirty-third coast it ain't no roach a G
So fill your cup up to the brim and have a toast with me
[Chorus: repeat 2X]
All I want to do, is bang screw
In my dirty-third, city of syrup
Bang Screw

Flosh low concert looking like a lumber yard
Waving my trunk up and down the boulevard
Charge the platinum card and the visa to the max!!!
Still won't get no sleep till my click see some cacs
Cadillacs and six packs we guys bangin screw
Click click clack, get yor wimp ass threw
Payin do's and stayin tru is the rule of the game
On top of the food chains
Bangin screw it won't change for nothin
Chorus 4X
In "City of Syrup," Big Moe is describing the lifestyle in the city of Houston, Texas, home to chopped and screwed music, lean, and syrup. He emphasizes the welcoming and peaceful nature of the city, unlike what may be expected in other cities in the East and West Coast. Big Moe invites everyone to come together, enjoy some drinks, weed, and relax. He also makes it clear that guns are not needed in the city, as they don't want any trouble or violence. The common denominator, the one thing that brings people together in Houston, is lean, also known as syrup or drank, which is a mixture of cough syrup, soft drinks, and candy.
Big Moe tells people to leave their problems at the door, take a chill pill, and just relax. He also addresses his reputation as a player, stating that he doesn't associate with people who cause trouble. He then boasts about how much lean he can drink, having already let the "po 4" (police) catch him twice. He urges haters to leave him alone and just enjoy the music, and emphasizes the importance of paying dues and staying true to the game. Finally, Big Moe encourages listeners to join him in "banging screw," a reference to DJ Screw's slow and stretched style of hip-hop music.
