Abide With Me
Bill & Gloria Gaither Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Mother, Mother, come play with me
Come watch me roll over, just wait and see
Soon, I will be a big boy full of fun
Soon, I'll be keeping my Mom on the run
Mother, Mother, come look at me
I'm growing so fast, can't you see
Soon, I will be a big boy, strong and tall
Soon, Dad and I will be out playing ball
Look up! Look down! Look all around
I'm growing, I'm growing, by leaps and by bounds
Mother, Mother, come hear me cry
I'm hungry. I'm cold. I'm certainly not dry
Soon I will learn to take care of my needs
But Mother, not now. It's time to feed
Mother, Mother, come hear me coo
I'm testing my voice, just for you
Soon, my first words will come tumbling out
Soon, you and Dad will be so proud

Look up! Look down! Look all around
I'm growing, I'm growing, by leaps and by bounds

Prayer to the Holy Spirit (St Augustine)

Breathe in me O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be holy.
Act in me O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is holy.
Strengthen me O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Amen

Incredible performance. You know you have done something special when there is complete silence because it means everyone is listening to every word. Just a wonderful performance of a great old hymn.

Have a Great Day!

Yes, Cynthia, at the end, takes a moment to come out of worship with our Lord - I've seen this happen so many times as Cynthia sings. A reverence comes over the whole audience/congregation as she sings. Pure worship. I've never seen this with any other singer - it's so beautiful.

Wow!!! Absolutely beautiful, and the total silence afterwards reflects this and brought me to tears. Wow!

Her voice is awe-inspiring. Only she can sing so beautifully a cappella - perfection! Pure reverence takes over the whole audience - I love the way she is so in worship that it takes her a moment to leave her commune with our Lord.
