Wore out my vinyl of this.
I saw allan Holdsworth with Nucleus just after this was recorded in 1979 in Southampton UK.
He was so far head & shoulders above any other mere mortals. Mind blowing. To stand a few feet in front of the band & watch him.
Then I saw his band IOU in a london pub in 1980 before his IOU album was recorded.
It was clear Allan was a genius the like of which had never been seen before & would never be seen again.
Not merely merely very very good, there's lots of those around.
He was instead very very unique & special.
Yet the pub was barely full & he couldn't get a record deal 🤔
Hence the band name.
Seemed like an injustice & difficult to comprehend.
Wish I'd had some spare money to try & help him to get a record deal. Seriously I would if I'd had some.

This whole album is seared into my brain from the day I bought it in 79 Bill has never let me down musically and I think that some of Alan Holdsworths best stuff was played on brufords first two albums. 😁

So rich, majestic & beautiful, pure Holdsworth genius, brimfull with imagination. Still my all-time favourite album, musicianship, writing, playing etc off the scale & still unmatched after first listen 43 years ago. RIP A.H.😪
@mikefad
Prob my favorite too. I can still play it in my head anytime I want. I think I wore out the cassette tape in my car.
