As a sax player in the 60’s I can confirm that this was played as a break song by quite a few bands around the SF Bay Area. Most of them didn’t have this guitar part down like you got it! I have been waiting years to see somebody put this together the right way. My hat is off to you on this. I will be giving it a try on the guitar now. How about Honey Boy?

Thank you my man! My dad showed me this one right after he taught me "Honky Tonk" around age 10. What bands did you play with in SF? My father "Toad" Andrews was the guitarist with Tracy Nelson/Mother Earth, one of the early Haight-Ashbury R&B groups; later they relocated to Nashville.

In the early 60's there was an active live music scene with teen dances around the Bay Area many promoted by Bobby Mitchell and Tom Donahue of KYA which featured performers such as The Olympics, Righteous Bros., local artist Bobby Freeman and many others (like Glen Campbell!). As the Untouchables, we played back up for the "stars" and did mostly cover band things (like Hold It!). There was a kind of parallel universe that started with the Fillmore and we remained in the "standard r'n'r workd playing at nightclubs like the Lucky 13 in Richmond, Litchfield's in San Rafael where we'd be booked for weeks (and months). Sly and Jerry Martini were playing around with groups like Joe Piazza and the Continentals. We changed our name to the St. James V to keep up with the British Invasion theme. It was a vibrant scene which I won't forget. I left it all in '68 and became an architect and joined the Peace Corps. I still play sax, tho'!
