Bill Snyder His Piano & Orchestra Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Call it superstitious lies
But I swear that I've seen something
And I've seen it in your eyes
On the psychic ether like some shamanist hoo-do
I wanna have an outer body experience with you
Now I ain't no seer but I've seen a thing or two
Don't need no mage to tell me
I can sense your magic
Across the spirit realm
I swear my ship's afloat with the devil at its helm.
Da-na-na-na-na-na-na
Da-na-na-na-na-na-na
Da-na-na-na-na-na-na
I 've been bewitched by you
Da-na-na-na-na-na-na
Da-na-na-na-na-na-na
Da-na-na-na-na-na-na
I've been bewitched by you
A spirit rapped upon my door and said that it's all true
I cast up my horoscope to try and find a clue
We'll meet up on the astral plane
Before the night is through
These lyrics depict a sense of belief in the supernatural and a connection with someone on a deeper, spiritual level. The singer acknowledges that some people may dismiss it as mere superstition or mumbo-jumbo, but they are convinced that they have witnessed something extraordinary in the eyes of the person they are addressing. They describe this experience as being on the psychic ether, like a shamanist hoo-do, and express a desire to have an out-of-body experience with the other person. The singer admits that they are not a seer but have seen strange things, and they don't need a mage to confirm that they have been possessed by the other person.
The lyrics also convey a sense of enchantment and magic. The singer can feel the other person's magic across the spirit realm, as if their own ship is under the devil's control. The repetition of "Da-na-na-na-na-na-na" adds a hypnotic quality, reinforcing this sense of being bewitched by the other person.
In the second verse, the singer mentions a spirit rapping at their door, confirming the truth of their beliefs. They turn to astrology (casting up their horoscope) in an attempt to find further guidance or understanding. They express a hope to meet the other person on the astral plane before the night is over, implying a desire for a transcendental connection beyond the physical realm.
Overall, these lyrics explore themes of supernatural connection, enchantment, and a yearning for a deeper spiritual experience.
