Say It with a Kiss
Billie Holiday Lyrics

There's snowflakes in the sky
And geese are flying high
But it's April in my heart again
The devil got his due
Love's holiday is through
Love and I have made a happy start again
Through leaves lie on the ground
The world just turned around
It isn't Fall at all you see
It's Spring that I have found

There's frost in Central Park
At five it's almost dark
What's the difference
When you've heard love's sweet amend
There's snowflakes in the sky
And geese are flying high
But there's April in my heart again

This is such an overlooked, gem of a song, written by the great team of Harry Warren (music) and Johnny Mercer (lyrics). From the movie "Going Places", where the much more popular "Jeepers Creepers" also made its debut.

If I may, I would like to make a correction to the above lyrics. The seventh line should read: "Magic in the touch of your fingertips", in spite of the fact that Billie Holiday sings "music" a second time. Thanks for your attention. (This was checked and verified by someone with the sheet music.)

Supported by the lush trumpet of Harry James among others

Javier Soria Laso

And also Lester "Prez" Young, Edgar Sampson, Benny Carter, Herschel Evans, Benny Morton, Teddy Wilson, Al Casey, Walter Page & Papa Jo Jones, who are present on this recording made on November 9 of 1938 in New York & originally issued on Brunswick 8270, german Brunswick A-81924, french Brunswick A-500758 & australian Columbia DO-1908.
The song itself was written by Harry Warren & Johnny Mercer on 1938 for the film "Going Places" that starred Dick Powell, Anita Louise, Ronald Reagan (the future president of USA during the end of the cold war) & of course, Louis Armstrong & an uncredited Dorothy Dandridge (the former performed for the first time "Jeepers Creepers", which became popular on his repertoire & Ricky Ricardi speaks about Satchmo's versions of that tune in his article "70 years of Jeepers Creepers", which you'll find on his Dippermouth Blog on this link:
