Billie the Vision & the Dancers got together in Malmö during the recordings of the first album in the spring of 2004. The Singer, Songwriter Lars Lindquists had previous material from a solo project. One person wasn't enough he thought, and had persuaded five more members to join the project. Most of them old friends from his home town Bräkne-Hoby in Blekinge, and on top of that a new friend from Borlänge.
The debut I Was So Unpopular in School and Now They're Giving Me This Beautiful Bicycle released on their own label Love Will Pay the Bills got great reviews in the press and also got nominated at Manifest, the Swedish prize award for records released on indie labels.
2005 saw the release of The World According To Pablo and in 2007 "Where The Ocean Meets My Hand" was released.
"I Used to Wander These Streets" was released on June 4th 2008.

I'm Alive
Billie the Vision & the Dancers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I bought the cigarettes you asked me to
And spring is in the air, I'm running up the stairs
We got the house for ourselves for a week
We don't need anyone to cook our food
We don't need anyone to tell us the damage that smoking does
We don't need the fuzz, just don't need the fuzz, the fuzz, the fuzz
Oh oh ohoh, uuh, I'm alive
And no one's gonna hurt me now
Oh oh ohoh, uuh, we're alive
And no one's gonna hurt us now
Let's have an outdoor event
Help me carry out the speakers
And put your favourite record on
We're in a house in the woods with no neighbours at sight
Tonight we're gonna touch the stars
And we're gonna talk about the times that come
And we'll be dancing in the moonlight
And we'll forget about the bullies and the bad boys
And be billie no mates together tonight
Oh oh ohoh, uuh, I'm alive
And no one's gonna hurt me now
Oh oh ohoh, uuh, we're alive
And no one's gonna hurt us now
And we've been bored behind bars, in a terrible shape
And doing time for way too long
And now they open the gates
I can't believe it's true
I'm gonna spend this weekend with you
I beg sweet relief to come close
I beg sweet relief to come closer
I watch sweet relief up close
I took her by the hand and she set me free
Oh oh ohoh, uuh, I'm alive
And no one's gonna hurt me now
Oh oh ohoh, uuh, I'm alive
And no one's gonna hurt me now
Oh oh ohoh, uuh, we're alive
And no one's gonna hurt us now
Oh oh ohoh, uuh, we're alive
And no one's gonna hurt us now
The song "I'm Alive" by Billie the Vision & the Dancers is a tribute to the joys of youth and being carefree. The first verse describes a 16-year-old heading to someone's house, carrying cigarettes they were asked to buy. There is a sense of excitement as spring is in the air, and they have the house to themselves for a week. They revel in their independence, not needing anyone to cook their food or tell them about the dangers of smoking. They just want to be free from anyone else's rules, especially those of the police (the fuzz).
The chorus repeats the phrase "I'm alive," suggesting that this newfound freedom has given them a sense of liberation and protection from harm. The second verse further illustrates the joy youth can bring, with a plan for an outdoor event with music, dancing, and a discussion about the future. The lyrics mention bullies and bad boys, perhaps highlighting the difficulties they may have faced before, but in this moment, they forget about those struggles and embrace the happiness they have found.
The final verse speaks of being trapped behind bars, perhaps a metaphor for feeling trapped in other difficult situations. When the gates finally open, the relief they feel is immense, and they can't believe they get to spend this time with loved ones. The repetition of "I'm alive" in the last two choruses emphasizes the feeling of liberation and the importance of living life to the fullest.
