Easy As Pie
Billy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
She was easy as pie and I had her eating out of my hand
Had her eating out of my hand
She was easy to touch smiling as I came on strong
She was easy as pie and I knew it wouldn't take me too long
Knew it wouldn't take me too long
Now here comes morning and my way of thinking has changed
Oh she came on so tender but look who surrender
Now I'm easy as pie the lady had herself a plan
And it's easy to see that she's got me eating out of her hand
[ steel ]
Now I'm easy as pie...
Got me eating out of her hand hmm hmm (easy)
The lyrics of Billy 'Crash' Craddock's song "Easy As Pie" tell the story of a one-night stand where the singer just sees the woman as an easy target. He describes her as "easy as pie", which suggests that the woman was not much of a challenge for him. He had her eating out of his hand, meaning he had control over her and she was completely under his spell. But come morning, things change. The woman reveals that she had her own plan all along, and the singer finds himself eating out of her hand. The concept of control switches from one character to the other.
The song is a commentary on casual sex and the idea of sexual conquest. It suggests that treating people as disposable and easy targets can come back to haunt you. The singer realizes that he was not in control, as he thought he was, and that the woman had her own agenda. It is a cautionary tale about the consequences of using people for personal pleasure without regard for their emotions and feelings.
Overall, "Easy As Pie" is a straightforward song that portrays the complexities of human interactions and emotions. It is a story that many people can relate to, as it touches on themes of power dynamics, manipulation, and deception.
