Finale
Billy Elliot [Original London Cast] Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It doesn't matter if you're large or small,
trapezeoid or short or tall,
even if you can't dance at all,
all you really gotta do is shine.

It doesn't matter if your life's a mess,
the whole process will coalesce,
just try to evervesce,
all you really gotta do is shine.

Everyone is different,
its a natural state,
its a fact,
its plain to see.

The world's grey enough,
without making it worse,
we need individuality.

'Cos what the hell is wrong,

with expressing yourself?
wWhat we need in-di-vid-u-a-li-ty

Yes, I found it heartbreaking that Dad and Tony were put behind two steel cages and lowered into the ground. The next time we see Billy, he is soaring, as a powerful Swan. Made me cry, to see them being lowered.

Adam Cooper’s performance as Billy Elliott, lead swan, is exquisite. What a dancer!
Of course, imo, the whole movie was wonderful. Great cast.

As much as I love that shot of his dad gasping in a breath at the end (which is a lot) the thing that gets to me the most is how the other ballet dancers keep looking at him with awe on their faces. Not only is Billy a professional dancer in a production, he is the dancer that all the others there aspire to be. The way they all try to get a look at him as he goes out onto the stage speaks volumes. It speaks to just how powerful of a performance that Billy does that even the people who have seen him practice and perform before want just one glimpse of him on stage.

@TheLakebabe1

Yes I saw that too...they were just waiting for him to go out there and make that leap!
