What's really nice is that she had her mom's biggest support, love and faith. Her mom really had her back especially in this performance, where she heard the tempo was too slow for Whitney and went to conduct the band herself to speed it up a little bit. Actually there is no real speeding up happening that wouldnt happen without her mother being a pain in the a$$. The drummer keeps staying (going back and forth) between 63-66 bpm from the beginning till the end, this amount is a natural part of all live music performances if they dont rely on machines (backing track, metronome).

I'm here from the movie, I'd never heard this song before, it's from the musical Wiz and was sung by Diana Ross. It was also a 80's pop R&b song sung by another singer. I've heard a few versions and I really think this nails it ! I'd never heard her sing a song like this, and this is one of the movies many highlights. I don't think she will be looked upon like Aritha Fanklin because of the pop hits and big ballads she sung, she was every bit as good, I think.
