I know this clip is old, but I love when it pops up in my feed. As a half breed, growing up in the 60's, I really was influenced by the attitude of Billy Jack, from Born Losers, to Billy Jack and finally the Trial. I became a martial arts instructor to help kids learn how to defend themselves and still maintain honour and dignity. This movie, truly, influenced my life....... RIP Tom. Most of this movie was filmed in my hometown Prescott AZ. I was 13 Tom Laughlin talked with us during filming breaks of the Courthouse fight and ice cream scene. He explained to us how the stunts were done. It was just like talking to an everyday Joe very nice guy.

Billy Jack was my first "real" introduction to the idea of living with honor and doing what was right. We need him today. Who will rise up with honor and lead the way? We need adults who behave like adults with goals and an eye to the future. We need our children raised in a family home with love and guidance. We need teachers teaching our young children how to study and learn and professors who can keep their politics out of the classroom. The theaters need to show movies like Billy Jack to those who have never seen him. Each and every generation needs to see this film and others . If the previous generations youth were to see such movies the present and the future of the nation would be vastly different. This movie impresses values upon people. @@MarinCipollina I was 20 when I saw Billy Jack. I did see the previous film, Born Losers years earlier at the Drive-In. But it didn't have the impact that Billy Jack stirred up. I had great role models from being young. I started different Martial Arts training at 7 years old. And I always felt like I was living in a world without a clear sense of right and wrong.
Throughout High School I was like Billy Jack in that park surrounded by Bullies that I fought on a regular basis. Spent a lot of time doing double detentions for pounding the crap out of Bullies. But they, the Bullies, never enjoyed any detentions for picking fights, bullying me or other kids I would step up to help. The system was always on the side of the Evil doers. And it's so bad today, in comparison to how it was when Billy Jack was on at the theater. I don't know how this is going to end. But it won't be on the side of good.
In my view Billy Jack wasn't really a movie for the purpose of entertainment. It was an illustration of what we were becoming as a society. And they couldn't have picked a better song (One Tin Soldier) to accompany the message that this movie was trying to convey.
I have copies of all the Billy Jack movies. It's most unfortunate the final film, The Return Of Billy Jack was never completed.
Tom Laughlin and his Billy Jack character are always with me. They are my Heroes. I'm sorry he and his Wife are gone. May they Rest In Peace.

I was nine years old when this movie came out. My mom and dad took us to a drive-in to see it. I was taking tae kwon do at the time and did so until I joined the military in 1982. This movie inspired me to enlist and do my part. I remember being trained and serving next to Vietnam vets. They were fantastic leaders. I also remember standing at a bus stop being in my dress uniform out in town at a mall (because we weren't allowed to wear anything else but uniforms until we got out of our training school) and someone threw a hamburger on me as they drove by. My first four years were in the Navy and then the next 25 years were with the Army; 29 years all together. God Bless the USA and RIP Billy Jack.

The message of Billy Jack still resonates in my soul at the age of 69. I have a copy to all of my grandchildren and told them why it was important. I don't see them much, they've decided grandparents are not very important. But I hope a little time and they'll see why the message of Billy Jack can change our country.

I saw this movie when it came out in 1971 and I was only eleven years old at the time. I grew up seeing all the civil rights and anti-war protests and this movie was such an inspiration to add to the fact that we should be nice and treat everyone equally and kindly. I absolutely love this movie and showed it to my kids so they see how people should treat other people no matter what their skin color is or who they are or where they came from or what their culture is.

The controversial issue is whether government has the authority to regulate personal interactions and force people to force people to treat everyone as equal. People who dont follow martials arts will never know how truly of a fighting machine was. He was an absolute lethal instrument but tried to always show peace first and foremost. Bless you for standing up to bullies. I ran into a high school kid ten years after graduation. He thanked me for something l did that l had forgotten. A bunch of kids were pushing him around and l stepped in and told them to knock it off. They backed off. He said he never forgot what l did. It wasn't much but it made a difference that day.

Laughlin was around in the Hollywood glory days as a contract actor before the Indy 1970’s period when he scored big with the Billy Jack franchise! He was definitely in the same class of cool with Eastwood, McQueen, etc. 👍

I met one of the writers if the song, Brian Potter, at a party many year ago. My girlfriend told him what a huge fan I was of the movie and the song. A couple weeks later, he delivered an autographed copy of the album to my girlfriend for me. What a great gift!!!

When this was in the theaters in 1971, I was a really rough kid of 14. After seeing the show with a buddy, I went back and I watched every screening from the 12:00 show and I would leave the theater around 10:00PM on Saturdays and Sundays when the last show let out. Each time I watch this movie it still moves me to tears. When I hear this wonderful song by Coven, I get the chills.

No movie has ever touched me in this way before or since. I believe much of my worldview, my feelings about people and politics was born as I watched Tom's movies. Thank you for all you gave us!!

Weren't your parents worried about where you were? But I once did the same with the sci-fi movie, "The Omega Man". At age 12 I went to the discount theater and watched The Omega Man from 10 am repeatedly and came home after 4 pm. My parents did ask me where I was but then again, I was a good child and never got into trouble so maybe my parents didn't worry.

This was the best movie ever! Saw it when it came out in theaters, my dad was the one who was showing the movie up in the booth. My brother and I have seen this movie soooooooooo many times. I watch it and all the others Tom has made. Billy Jack was a favorite in our house in the 70,s. He still is a favorite of mine even at 64 years old. I watch billy jack movie now and then. Billy Jack reminded me of Kwai Chang Caine. For peaceful men they sure got into a lot of fights even thought it was forced upon them or they came to the rescue of someone.

The second in the series. Born Losers, Legend of Billy Jack, Trial of Billy Jack. All excellent movies. This song hit home with me as I am an enrolled Shoshone and it reflects the treatment of all Indigenous people.
