The Flood
Billy Lewis Jr. Lyrics

It's all for the story
That ever changing game we play
That forever tangling web we weave
The tales of these so called nothings
That came to be
That came to be
Sittin up in my bed
I thought I chose them oh so well
But once again you're proving me wrong and only time can tell..
You're proving me wrong and only time can tell..
Ooh you're proving me wrong
When it rains it pours
And I'm here
No canopy above my head
My face pointed towards the sky
Mouth open wide
When it rains it pours
I can't help but think
What my friend once said
We're all fucked either way in the end
We might as well go hard
Until we all go home
I can't help but wonder if he's right
And if everything I ever wanted
Could all float away tonight
When it rains it pours
And I'm here
No canopy above my head
My face pointed towards the sky
Mouth open wide
When it rains it pours
Ooh yeahh when it rains it pours..
Ooh ooh Ahh Ahh Ahh
And it's everyone
And it's everyone
For themselves
And it's everyone
For themselves
The lyrics of "The Flood" explore the inevitable chaos and unpredictability of life. The first lines suggest that everything that happens in our lives has a purpose, even the seemingly insignificant or unfortunate events that we might wish had never happened. The second verse, which begins with the line "When it rains it pours / And I'm here," speaks to the experience of feeling overwhelmed and exposed in the face of adversity. The singer's mouth is open wide, suggesting a certain vulnerability and exposure to danger. The lyrics also touch on the idea of mortality and the impermanence of our desires and goals. The singer wonders if everything he's ever wanted could all float away in the flood, highlighting the inherent fragility of human existence.
The bridge, with its repetition of "And it's everyone / For themselves," speaks to the idea that we are all ultimately alone in our struggles, and that we must navigate the dangers of life on our own. However, the chorus suggests that there is still something overwhelmingly powerful and unifying about shared experience. Even though everyone is fighting their own battles, there is a sense of communal vulnerability in the face of the flood, and the image of everyone with their faces pointed towards the sky suggests a collective searching for some kind of meaning or guidance.

Uhhhh...what? WOW. You need a recording contract immediately. There needs to be more of this music. I didn't even finish the song before purchasing it on iTunes. I heard it first on Jango, went straight to YouTube before it was even finished, then iTunes. Well done, Sir. Your voice is unique and unforgettable.

I met him the other day and he is one of the sweetest people to ever live! He was so nice to my friends and I when we would talk to him and ask him for pictures. I'm so sad that Glee didn't discover him sooner. I really hope he gets some solos this season.

He is soooo funny on Glee! And I'm pretty sure he is one of the only cast members who also has quality solo music. Legitimately sad I won't get to see him for more than a few episodes :(
