Billy Ray Cyrus Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Where'm I gonna live when I get home
My ol' lady's thrown out everything I own
She meant what she said
When she wished I was dead
So where'm I gonna live when I get home

I knew our road was gettin' kinda rocky
She said I was gettin' way too cocky
She waited till I was gone
She packed from dusk 'til dawn
So where'm I gonna live when I get home

Where'm I gonna live when I get home
My ol' lady's thrown out everything I own
She meant what she said
When she wished I was dead
So where'm I gonna live when I get home

She decided she would keep my cat
My transportation I wouldn't be needin' that
She kept my tv
The bills she gave to me
So where'm I gonna live when I get home

Where'm I gonna live when I get home
My ol' lady's thrown out everything I own
She meant what she said
When she wished I was dead
So where'm I gonna live when I get home

Where'm I gonna live when I get home

Where'm I gonna live, where'm I gonna live
Where'm I gonna live when I get home

Overall Meaning

In Billy Ray Cyrus's song "Where'm I gonna live," the singer is contemplating where he will live when he returns home, as his wife has thrown out all of his belongings and left him with nothing. He expresses that his wife meant what she said when she wished he was dead, indicating that their relationship is on the rocks and perhaps beyond repair. He acknowledges his own role in the deterioration of their marriage, as she accused him of being too cocky before packing up and leaving. The singer expresses his confusion and despair, wondering how he will make a home for himself after being left with nothing.

This song is an emotional reflection on the consequences of a troubled relationship and the toll it can take on a person's life. It conveys the sense of hopelessness that can come with losing everything you've known and loved, leaving the listener with a sense of empathy and understanding. The lyrics are quite straightforward, with Cyrus painting a bleak picture of the situation and leaving little room for interpretation.

Actually I think Billy Ray is one of the most underrated country artists there is. Certainly his music is much better than the majority of the stuff coming out of Nashville these days.

@vegasnights76

The stuff today i dont even call country. Billy Ray i think got written off after Achy Breaky Heart was such a huge hit and even though he did well after nothing SOARED so he was written off. I love this, Trail of tears, Romeo with Dolly Parton and his Roll that Rock with this cousin Bobby. Some Gave all was a powerful song

@kendrabutler3670

He had his day..I kinda agree ,but he didn't come out of the 90s..I love his music too but oh his daughter probably changed everything for him
