After the assassination of Orozco, Romero took the group under his management. He was able to maintain the group's popularity by hiring young talents and maintaining always a new style. Romero first hired Gabriel "El Gaby" García who was physically very similar to Orozco and impersonated him, the chorus was Jean Carlos Centeno and the other was Jorgito Celedón, as well as his accordionist nephew JF "El Morre" Romero. Their debut was in Venezuela in a national popular tv show contest "Premio Orquidea" which they won that year. Binomio de Oro then recorded the first album without Orozco titled "Todo Corazón (album)" featuring Romero siting along an empty chair implying that his partner was irreplaceable. The album also featured a song by Rafael Orozco titled "Solo para ti" which became an all time hit.
In 1996 Jean Carlos Centeno and Jorgito Celedon became lead singers of the Binomio de Oro along with Romero as accordionist and his nephew after Garcia's departure. In 1999 singer Jorgito Celedon quited the group to pursue a solo career and was replaced by Junior Santiago. Later Junior Santiago and "Morre" Romero separated from the group to form their own vallenato group.

"Dime Pajarito" is a song by the Colombian vallenato group Binomio De Oro. The lyrics of the song express the sadness of a little bird whose song has lost its usual joy. The singer of the song asks the bird if it is because it has lost its companion or if it has come to share in his sorrow. The song then switches to the singer's perspective as he shares his own melancholic story. He left his hometown for the big city with dreams and memories, but he feels that they will never return. The song then returns to the bird's perspective as the singer asks if it has also been paid like he has - betrayed by someone he loved. The final verse repeats the singer's story about his lost memories.
The song's lyrics are simple yet poignant, evoking themes of heartbreak and nostalgia. The bird serves as a symbol of the singer's own emotions, both reflecting and magnifying his sadness. The story of leaving one's hometown for the big city is a common one in Colombian music, representing the struggles and dreams of many Colombians who migrate from rural areas to urban centers in search of better opportunities. The song is a testament to the enduring nature of traditional Colombian music, which continues to resonate with people across generations and borders.
