Relying on strongly tailored arrangements of tunes as wide-ranging as Bach's B minor Prelude to Debussy's Passepied to Joe Henderson’s Serenity, as well as captivating originals by Feuer and Swanson, Bipolar draws from the most unusual and eclectic pool of source material to be used by a jazz quintet.

Bipolar Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
The residue of raw emotion that you always leave behind
Run away. Leave today. Spare the people in your path
Spare yourself the shame
When the blood that's on your hands becomes the blood that's in them
You're to blame. That's your prerogative.
They're just the box that's built around him not expanding as he grows
He doesn't see that he's the one who is shattered by these broken dreams
Chorus x2
The lyrics of Bipolar's song "Aftermath" poignantly address the aftermath left behind by someone who constantly fails to control their emotions. The first verse, "Walk away from the aftermath. The residue of raw emotion that you always leave behind" suggests that the person referred to in the song has a destructive pattern of behavior that causes collateral damage in their wake. The suggestion to "Run away. Leave today. Spare the people in your path" shows that the singer is aware of the destructive behavior and urges the person to escape from their cycle of harming others and themselves.
The second verse, "When the blood that's on your hands becomes the blood that's in them, You're to blame. That's your prerogative" highlights the responsibility of the person to cease their harmful actions. The metaphorical repetition of blood suggests the intensity and impact of the emotional turmoil that the person brings into others' lives. The lyrics assert that the person has the power to end this cycle and must do so to avoid the consequences of their actions.
In the chorus, "It doesn't mean he is out to hurt the ones he knows. They're just the box that's built around him not expanding as he grows. He doesn't see that he's the one who is shattered by these broken dreams", the singer seems to counsel empathy towards the person who is going through their emotional turmoil, even if they cause harm. The lyrics suggest that the person may not realize that they are trapping themselves in a box and failing to expand emotionally, and that the consequences of their behavior will ultimately hurt them the most.
Overall, "Aftermath" portrays a poignant and empathetic message about understanding the destructive patterns of behavior that people can be trapped in and the consequences of their actions to themselves and others.

What an interesting story. It seems to me that the two manic episodes he spoke about in this story were induced by substance abuse. Personally, I self-medicated for years until I was finally put on the correct dose of medication. Once that happened, I never had another urge to have another beer or toke again.

Hey man we’re you in the process of ramping up into a manic episode during this? That “lightness” sounds exactly like that excitement you get when you’re manic.
