I was following the
I was following the
I was following the
I was following the pack
All swallowed in their coats
With scarves of red tied 'round their throats
To keep their little heads
And I turned 'round and there you go
And Michael, you would fall
And turn the white snow red as strawberries
In the summertime
I was following the pack
All swallowed in their coats
With scarves of red tied 'round their throats
To keep their little heads
From falling in the snow
And I turned 'round and there you go
And Michael, you would fall
And turn the white snow red as strawberries
In the summertime
I was following the pack
All swallowed in their coats
With scarves of red tied 'round their throats
To keep their little heads
From falling in the snow
And I turned 'round and there you go
And Michael, you would fall
And turn the white snow red as strawberries
In summertime
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
In Birdy's song "White Winter Hymnal," the lyrics describe the experience of being part of a group, or "the pack," in the winter. The group is bundled up in coats and scarves to protect themselves from the cold, but the snow-covered ground poses a danger as well. The singer turns around to see "you," which is Michael, fall and create a striking image of the white snow turning red like strawberries. The repetition of the lyrics emphasizes the cyclical nature of the experience, with the same scene repeating itself over and over.
The use of color in the lyrics is also notable. The red scarves and white snow contrast and create a vivid image in the reader's mind. The mention of strawberries in the last line of the chorus is also a unique detail, capturing the idea that the winter scene is both beautiful and potentially dangerous.
Overall, "White Winter Hymnal" is a haunting and atmospheric song that captures the magic and danger of winter. The lyrics are open to interpretation, but the imagery created is certainly powerful and memorable.

It's what's called a round in choral singing and she does it beyond justice vs. Fleet Foxes. A round is supposed to make you feel like you can sing it for an hour. But Birdys version is genius in its haunting. It's with few pop peers.
