Birdy Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I like to believe you are thinking of me
And when the sun comes through your window
I like to believe you've been dreaming of me
Dreaming
I know
Thinking about the t-shirt you sleep in
I should know
'Cause I'd spend all the whole day
Listening to your message I'm keeping
And never deleting
When I saw you
Everyone knew
I liked the effect that you had on my eyes
But no one else heard
The weight of your words
Or felt the effect that they have on my mind
Falling
I know
'Cause I'd spend half this morning
Thinking about the t-shirt you sleep in
I should know
'Cause I'd spend all the whole day
Listening to your message I'm keeping
And never deleting
The lyrics to Birdy's song T-Shirt depict the singer's ongoing infatuation with someone they are perhaps in a long-distance relationship with. The singer spends their mornings imagining that the person they care for is also thinking of them. The radiant sunshine serves as a metaphor for this person's thoughts, which were directed towards them in a dreamy state. The singer also tries to preserve every communicating moment they have and often listens to messages left by their loved one. The lyrics suggest an intense love that moves beyond physical attraction, and it is clear that this person's presence has a profound impact on the singer's life.
Birdy's lyrics for T-Shirt are poignant and open to interpretation. The lyrics express something raw and emotional, which is why they resonated with fans. The song has become a favorite among fans, including some notable figures in the music industry. Madonna shared a tweet with a link to the song, saying, "Birdy has a new album out #ballerina #music #magic." Ed Sheeran also shared the song on his Twitter account, referring to it as "beautiful".
