the perfect couple
Biscuit Boy AKA Crackerman Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Was no position that we could find
(The perfect meal they wined and dined)
(Background music, so refined)
(The perfect house and household pets)
(Mine just howled, whilst yours just slept)
When they sang, "Walk on with hope in your heart"
(When that funny-looking bloke sang, "Heal the world")
(I don't think that he really meant here)
When that group sang, "Time is on my side"
My battery clock just stopped
(But when that bald guy sang, "You sexy thing")
(Both of our pants just dropped)
Yes, when that bald guy sang, "You sexy thing"
Both of our pants just dropped, just dropped
The perfect groom, the perfect bride
The photo album that glows inside
(The perfect flowers on mantelpiece)
(His perfect suit, his perfect crease)
(Her perfect dress, her perfect size)
(Our clothes ripped up whilst flower dies)
When that 60's group sang, "Keep on running"
When we were just about to wed
(And when that fella said, "Take a walk on the wild side")
(We were picnicking at Beachy Head)
When that band released "Fool on the hill"
Do you think they meant me or meant you?
(When the band sang, "Didn't I blow your mind")
(We must have sucked as hard as we blew)
But when the King sang, "Always on my mind"
It was mine that was always on you
We were skiing in the alps, the avalanche had started
The volcano had started to spew
When that Christian bloke and his backing band
Sang "Move it", but not you two
Not you two (When you took me to eat at the local steak house)
Not you two (And the band played "Born to be wild")
Not you two (And the woman sang "Running up that hill")
Not you two (When I was heavy with child)
The pirates tied our hands behind our backs
The sea didn't make a sound
When halfway down the plank, that rap band
Started singing, "Jump around"
Jump around, jump around
Jump around, jump around
Jump around (Jump around), jump around (Jump around)
Jump around (Jump around)
Jump around
In "The Perfect Couple," Biscuit Boy AKA Crackerman expresses his thoughts on the status quo of relationships and perfectionism. The first verse highlights the couple that seems to have everything in place, from their arms entwined to their refined background music. Despite this, our protagonist cannot find a position that matches theirs. He talks about the perfect meal, perfect home, and pets. He contrasts this with his reality, a howling pet and a sleeping one. The second verse highlights some of the iconic songs that have had an impact on society. The couple starts on a pier when a particular song tells them to walk with hope in their hearts. The irony here is that the verse is not correct since they are stuck on a pier.
The third verse highlights some of the events when they were about to get married, and the music in the background does the talking. He contrasts the perfect flowers with his flowers, which died. He also contrasts their perfect clothes with their clothes that were ripped up. In the chorus, he mentions some of the bands that have had an impact on society, and they have a contrasting experience. For instance, when the rap band is singing, "Jump Around," they are halfway down the plank with pirates who have tied them up.
