Rebirth of Hardcore Pride is exactly what this was. After seeing so many bands we looked up to, sell out or go mainstream, metal, whatever, this was a much needed and appreciated breath of fresh air. Still one of my favorites after almost 30 years.

I just heard that Alex Brown, guitarist for Gorilla Biscuits, passed away. I've been jamming out to Start Today since I was in high school and I'm 45 now. It's hands down/fists up one of THE best hardcore albums ever. Rest in peace, Alex.

I bought this record the week it came out. The record store in Providence, RI I bought it from had a whole crate full of copies for sale because it was considered like a hardcore blockbuster and they expected to sell out. I was little, couldn't really go to shows yet, but I had discovered Youth Of Today and NYHC and these guys seemed to add a new element of fun and color and humor to the austere youth crew aesthetic and were just bananas musically. So much style and energy and just plain cooler than everything else around at the time. And still fresh!

This band always reminded me of a pissed off dag nasty but, I still love this album. I try to listen to it every couple of years to remind myself of what the music scene used to look like before everything got so generic. The band sounds great on their latest outing and it makes me super happy to see Walter on guitar with them. I guess the spirit of true hardcore is still alive. Yeah, I know Turnstile, blah blah blah.

demolazer bro. ur literally hearing a record thats in any real hardcore enthusiasts heart, mind, way of life and top ten hardcore records of all time. For me this album is everything, time, moment, good and bad time, its everything. its friendship, struggle, love, getting over hatred, revenge, forgiveness. Hardcore was when i realized i could find my own beliefs and start caring in a world that really doesnt care. This record makes me cry with happiness and wish i was 15 again. This world is so diferent now. its as if theres no such thing like chance these days. its like technology took over and you know what everybody in ur life is doing so theres literally like no bumping into people or anything. its very crazy how quickly this happened also. hardcore made me proud and an individual and introduced me to all the best friends i have to this day. What's friggin scary is that it's been 23 years since I first heard those trumpets. I was 15 years old and it feels like no time has passed. Then I look in the mirror and think oh sht. Finding a ride to the Showcase to see my fav bands w hopes of finding some new 7"s I never heard was all this hardcore lady needed. Life before the Internet took over. Those were the days. I think back on my youth of how much time I spent looking for new records. All the searching, trading hours in records stores. What the hell do kids do nowadays with all that extra time :).Now they can download everything. Just the ability to friggin watch all this shit on YouTube would've been nuts back then. You punch in the name of one band and its entire family tree pops up. Do you know how much time that would have saved me?

+Anon Ymous I hear what you're saying. Think about it though. The time and effort it took to go out and actually discover new music and bands is what made the scene real. The only people who were at shows and part of the Hardcore scene had to put in the same amount of effort. It was very refining if you think about it. I turned 18 in 1988. I started going to shows in 1984. I have seen so many great bands spanning 3 decades. I wouldn't trade it for anything. That's why I am 46 and still a Hardcore kid. It's more than just music... It's a way of life.

+Reid Ellis Yeah, I totally agree with you. The world is a different place now. I am so thankful I got to experience so many great bands/shows over the years. It's definitely a way of life. I still get shit from all my old friends that used to go to shows to me back in the day. They think it's funny I still listen to the same music. Meaning old hardcore. I think for some people it was definitely a phase, but for me it was, and is, like oxygen. There was nothing on earth that would make me feel as great as my records or going to shows did. Back then, there was more of a connection between kids, I feel. Like you'd meet kids at a show, a complete stranger, and you had this thing in common.The music would start, the room would go nuts, and even though you were total strangers, it didn't friggin matter, there was like an instant bond. Nowadays, there like levels of how punk/XXX you are. It's so friggin stupid. It's like they missed the entire point. It's like the heart/ intelligence is gone

MRR classifieds, remember when that was a thing lol? Back then I felt underground music was some sort of 'secret' and it was who you knew or what avenues to travel to discover more pieces of the Great Punk Rock Puzzle. I agree with you 100%!

In support of your sentiment, my first pair back in 1990 or whatever took LITERALLY A YEAR AND A HALF because they were shipped via boat freight and they were out-of-stock. My poor Mom was pissed! She spent a hundred bucks on boots I've been yammering about for months. Finally got them of course. But 25yrs later I ordered a new pair. Received them LITERALLY 2 days later through Amazon! i saw them live at the time the album came out....in my small hometown near the border in germany. it was soooo cool that they played there, unbelievable.i had a talk with the guitar player, i was very drunk and my english was poor. he was a nice guy....great concert.

I had the extreme luck to catch GB on the ST tour ('89 w/instead & up front), before I had ever even heard one note of them & was COMPLETELY blown away. SO explosive! I wasn't str8 edge at all either. 1 of the top live shows I've ever seen. The 2012 footage of them from the "this is hardcore" fest in Philly catches the energy perfectly. Look it up - it's a MUST!

This was one of the first CD's I bought that were hardcore and punk related. I also bought a What Happens Next CD. They were cool. In retrospect, the music helped me be sincere and honest and helped me seek positive friendships. Ultimately, my return to faith in Christ helped me out kinda more. But I like straight-edge a lot and it's very good and cool to be straight-edge. I like Christ and Christianity more than straight-edge. Both are cool though.

Best HC album of all time. We were blessed back then. P.E. released "Nation Of Millions", Anthrax released "Among The Living", then the GB's gave us this. Amazing times.

I recall the name, but somehow I totally missed out on this band in the 80s or 90s or whenever they were around. But I got similar levels of awesome from the Dayglo Abortions. Weird ... damn weird.
