Bishop G. E. Patterson brought indispenible evidence of our need to provide extended ministries. In his prerogative as leader, he re-enforced our position in charitable giving and socail ministries with the creation of COGIC Charities. He engineered new efforts in the realm of philanthropy and evangelism. He could be heard saying,"How can I preach when the vicissitudes of life are destorying the people?" When hurricanes Rita and Katrina ravaged the nation, the plea of the Presiding Bishop was appreciated. It was exraordinary that faith preaching and practical realities of the Gospel prepared the Church of God in Christ to help alleviate the pain and suffering of countness people during the aftermath of the storms.

We burned the bridges now it left us pickin' through the ash
I'll always wonder if you could would you redo the past
But I know one thing's for sure I'm never goin' back
And I never wanna' see you again
You froze my heart then broke it too
And you told me you would love me till the end
I should have known that that's not trueWho would have thought that we made it with a bad start
You're the reason that I really got a black heart
Stay drownin' in my sorrows at a damn bar
Round and round we go again like Nascar
Break up first then we make up
Lock lips down to the taste buds
But I ain't feel a thing this is fake love
Like now I only hit it with a hate fuck
Swear they all told me to throw it way
I knew that you'd change you just like the weather
You always be askin' to write you a song
Well here you go bitch I hope you feel better
You cold as December bitter with your words
In one ear then it's out and never heard
Beggin' me for love swear to god that shit is earned
I've been livin' in hell to keep myself from gettin' burned
Yuh' despite how we felt
We crashed and burned yeah I should have wore a seat belt
Wanna' tell you that I mean well
But it'd really be a lie cause you put me in a deep hell yuh'
We brought our baggage on this trip I always knew we'd crash
We burned the bridges now it left us pickin' through the ash
I'll always wonder if you could would you redo the past
But I know one thing's for sure I'm never going back
And I never wanna' see you again
You froze my heart then broke it tooAnd you told me you would love me till the end
I should have known that that's not true
So quick on the blaming
You drove me to crazy
You love me by hating
Lost all my trust
Telling your friends I'm fake
That my head's not OK
But they hit me up late⦠Shut the fuck up
Your such a hot head baby
Your mad I'm acting just like you
I can't hear past your screaming
I hate your guts but I kind of love you
We brought our baggage on this trip I always knew we'd crash
We burned the bridges now it left us pickin' through the ash
I'll always wonder if you could would you redo the past
But I know one thing's for sure I'm never going back
And I never wanna' see you again
You froze my heart then broke it too
And you told me you would love me till the end
I should have known that that's not true
That's not true
That's not true
Yeah that's not true
The lyrics of Bishop G.E. Patterson's "Going Back to Jesus" explores the themes of regret, hurt, and forgiveness. The opening lines, "We brought our baggage on this trip I always knew we'd crash. We burned the bridges now it left us pickin' through the ash," suggests that the song is about a failed relationship that ended in a fiery crash. The singer seems to have regrets about the relationship and wonders if things could have been different had some things been done differently.
The chorus, "I'll always wonder if you could would you redo the past. But I know one thing's for sure I'm never goin' back. And I never wanna' see you again. You froze my heart then broke it too. And you told me you would love me till the end. I should have known that that's not true," reveals the hurt and betrayal the singer feels. It also suggests that the singer has decided to move on from the relationship and has no intention of returning to it.
The verses reveal a complicated and turbulent relationship, where the couple breaks up only to make up again. However, the singer has come to realize the toxicity of the relationship, and there seems to be a sense of relief in the decision to leave it behind. The song ends on the lines "That's not true. That's not true. Yeah, that's not true," which indicates that the singer has come to terms with the reality of the situation and has moved on.
Overall, the song is an insightful exploration of the pain of failed relationships, the importance of forgiveness and moving on, and how sometimes, it is necessary to let go and never go back.
