The Crow
Bishops Green Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
I hear them fighting for their lives
The crow up high sits and waits
Fallen solider crows make no mistakes
Dark clouds and blacken skies
Stormfront nears through tiny eyes
Fallen solider crows make no mistakes
Crows are watching mothers don't let your boys march
Bishop Green’s song, “The Crow” is an evocative piece that speaks of a battlefield. It starts with an eerie description of a field with gloom all around, which signifies the presence of death and destruction. The next line talks about the sounds of the fighters as they struggle for their lives, trying to survive in a place where everything seems hostile. The imagery used here is powerful and conveys the sense of uncertainty and sorrow that comes with war.
The chorus talks about the crow that sits up high and watches over everything. The crow is a symbol of death, and its presence in the song reinforces the theme of war and loss. It is mentioned that fallen soldier crows make no mistakes, which means that death is indiscriminate and does not spare anyone in such situations. The final phrase of the chorus, "Crows are watching mothers don't let your boys march," is a poignant reminder that war should be avoided at all costs because it takes away lives and causes immense heartache and pain.
Overall, this song is a haunting reminder of the horrors of war and the devastation it brings upon everyone involved. The use of strong imagery and symbolism makes it a powerful track that has a lasting impact on the listener.
