BRAINWORMS I is the first album from this group/project fully idealized by Rafael Bittencourt who has a discography of over 16 titles, gold records (in Brazil and Japan), over one million records sold and wrote some of the modern melodic-metal hymns such as ANGELS CRY, TIME, STAND AWAY, Z.I.T.O., MAKE BELIEVE, METAL ICARUS, REBIRTH, ACID RAIN, THE SHADOW HUNTER, THE VOICE COMMANDING YOU among many other songs that for years inspire an assorted audience and motivate many hopeful musicians to improve themselves on their instruments.
Brainworms is a term created by Oliver Sacks, a famous American Neuron-scientist, to name certain types of melodies that eventually “stick” into our memory and we feel hard to get it off. Curiosly, Rafael had the melodies for the songs trapped in his mind right when he was reading Oliver Sacks's book “Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain”. Inspired by this concept, he wrote the 11 songs of the album.
Accurate musicianship, talent, originality, a pioneer instinct, technique and feeling are just a few of the adjectives used to qualify this musician, owner of an unique sensibility, known as one of the most important of his style. And those are the same qualities found in the upcoming CD BRAINWORMS I from his recently born group: the BITTENCOURT PROJECT
The release of BRAINWORMS I is expected for October 2008, same month as ANGRA's 17th anniversary. This album comes as a gift for the fans that have been supporting this musician's career all over the world.
The BITTENCOURT PROJECT is been released simultaneously in Japan (JVC VICTOR) and Brazil (VOICE MUSIC). A tour might happen in Japan early 2009. And it is planned to be released in USA and Europe on late 2008.

holding Back The Fire
Bittencourt Project Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Lay down and surrender
You soldier at arms
Your war will be over when you find peace inside
There ain't no way around it
No reason to fight
Life's worthwhile when you
Forget you're gonna die
For this minute I'm just fine
I'm holding back the fire
Holding back the fire
Words are washing away
Like the pasth of my tears
Realigning my thoughts
Through the pages of the years
Stop making it worse!
Must accept what you've got!
Don't live your tomorrows
As just another day
Turn another page and live your life
And live your life
But my heart still bleeds
It's ripping the scars
I'm bearing the suffering
With torns wounding my heart
I refuse to see!
Am I going blind?
Can't run from the burning
When the smoke is in your eyes
You're the only one to be blamed
It's your own sacrifice
Stop looking for justice
That is no how it works
Don't leave for tomorrow
What you can do today
What you can do today
Is change your life
Change your life
But my heart still bleeds
It's ripping the scars
I'm bearing the suffering
With torns wounding my heart
I refuse to see!
Am I going blind?
Can't run from the burning
When the smoke is in your eyes
For this minute I'm just fine
All my anger settles down
I'm holding back the fire
Holding back the fire
That is ripping my scars
I am bearing the suffering
Holding back the fire
Beware of your anger
Your heart's still on fire
Your war can't be own until
You fine some peace inside
Lay down and surrender
You soldier at arms
Can't run from the burning
When you're holding back the fire
Now my anger settles down...
The lyrics of Bittencourt Project's "Holding Back The Fire" present a message of resilience, perseverance, and acceptance, and seek to explore the complexities of human emotion when dealing with pain, anger, and suffering. The song begins by addressing the listener as a "soldier at arms", urging them to surrender in the midst of their personal battles, and reminding them that there is no reason to fight if they can find peace within themselves. The lyrics highlight the importance of accepting what life brings, living in the present moment, and not allowing the fear of death to cloud one's judgment. The chorus emphasizes the act of "holding back the fire", which seems to represent the intense emotions and desires that can lead us astray, and suggests that finding inner peace and tranquility is the key to overcoming life's challenges.
Moving on, the lyrics reflect on the role of memory, and how it shapes our understanding of ourselves and the world around us. The lyrics advise the listener to stop making their situation worse, accept what they have, and focus on living their lives one day at a time. The song reminds us that life is fleeting, and that the only way to make the most of it is to turn the page and keep moving forward. The following verses and chorus delve deeper into the theme of pain, and the difficulty of letting go of it. The lyrics assert that even when we find peace within ourselves, there may still be moments when our hearts bleed and we bear the scars of our suffering. The final verse encourages the listener to beware of their anger, to make peace with themselves before seeking revenge or justice, and to lay down their arms and find inner peace.
