Don't Forget To Breathe
Bitter:Sweet Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Once upon a dream, I was dying for you
Tating only sweet, drinking memories of you
Your hand touches my cheek as you whisper softly

Don't forget to breathe
Our love will be redeemed
And when you take my hand
You'll know exactly where I am

A toast to starry nights, seeking comfort divine
Celebrating life, swimming circles in light
And I look to the sea and hear you calling softly

Don't forget to breathe
Our love will be redeemed
And when you take my hand
You'll know exactly where I am

I hear you calling to me
See you but you can't see me
We never said our goodbyes
So dark and lonely your eyes
You'll always be in my heart
There is no death to us part

Don't forget to breathe
Our love will be redeemed
And when you take my hand

You'll know exactly where I am
You'll know exactly where I am

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Bitter:Sweet's song 'Don't Forget to Breathe' showcase a passionate longing for a lost love. The song begins with the singer reminiscing about a time when they were completely consumed by their love for this person. The line "Once upon a dream, I was dying for you" suggests that this love was all-consuming and perhaps unsustainable. However, the singer is unable to let go of the memories they have with this person, as they continue to "drink" them in.

The chorus of the song, "Don't forget to breathe, our love will be redeemed", is a plea to this lost love to remember that even when things are difficult, they need to take a step back and breathe. The singer believes that their love can be saved, but only if the other person is willing to meet them halfway. The line "And when you take my hand, you'll know exactly where I am" is a reassurance to their partner that they will always be there for them, no matter what.

The final verse of the song is particularly poignant, as the singer realizes that they may never see this person again. They hear their voice calling out to them, but they are unable to respond. The line "We never said our goodbyes, so dark and lonely your eyes" illustrates the sadness and longing that the singer feels. Despite this, they hold onto the hope that their love will never truly die. The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer's reassurance that their love will be redeemed and they will always be there for their partner.

Needs more adjectives! Seriously though, fucking wonderful song. Her voice, oh man... One of my favorite things about the internet, is knowing there are actually others that appreciate the same amazing music as I do. Ten years ago it would've been super hard to discover something like this; now, I just search real quick, and someone awesome such as yourself has done the dirty work already! Thanks for the upload!

I watched a hour long video of these guys awhile back and its so kewl to me as im 52 and just under the age of the master mc of the group, looks like an old hippy lol but im w him on that and whats neat as hell is they use very old equip from the 60,s 70,s to make their music, one example is he used an old radio shack cassette player and recorded some music on it and mixed it in w another song he was making and would take 1-2 seconds of what he had on the cassette player and kindof jerk the player which would cause the music on it to warble which mixed right in w the song he was making. Its just neat things like that he comes up with to make their music, well I guess distinct? from all the others.
